This treatise, "Except for the truth of suffering that possesses," is to be discarded. What are those other than the exceptions? They are those that arise from the origin, are to be abandoned by seeing, and are future with similar characteristics, as well as those that are to be abandoned by seeing suffering, and are future, and those that arise from the origin, are to be abandoned by seeing, and are pervasive and future, as well as those that arise from cessation and the path, and all that are to be abandoned by meditation. Since those to be abandoned by meditation are not differentiated, they arise from the cause of the view of the aggregates, like ordinary beings, even for the noble ones, but are not the cause of the view of the aggregates. This is the explanation. Therefore, the afflicted dharmas of a noble person also arise from the cause of pervasiveness. Then, the so-called imputed explanation shows a contradiction with the scriptures. If the afflicted dharmas of a noble person also arise from the cause of pervasiveness, then not only do unwholesome dharmas arise from a cause, but they also arise from unwholesome and neutral causes. The questioner's thought is that since unwholesome definitely arises from an unwholesome cause, it is thought that it is not a neutral cause. There is, for example, the noble person who is free from desire for desire, etc. The cause of that mind is not only unwholesome, but also neutral, possessing the nature of the view of the aggregates and the view of extremes. Although it is indeed the cause of unwholesome and neutral, this is said with reference to not having abandoned the cause. Its neutral cause is also abandoned, because the to-be-abandoned-by-seeing has been completely abandoned, and there is no falling away from the path of seeing. This arises from inappropriate attention; therefore, this is said with reference to not having abandoned the to-be-abandoned-by-meditation, such as unwholesome desire. How is it not abandoned? Because it has fallen away from abandonment, being included by the co-emergent and the cause of having the same characteristics.

Because it was said in consideration of the included non-virtuous cause, it is not contradictory to the treatise. The cause of pervasive action has been explained. The ripening cause is non-virtue, etc., this phrase appears in detail. The cause of ripening is only those, it should be determined thus, but those are only the cause of ripening, it is not so. Mentioning with outflows is to clarify without outflows. Non-virtue is only with outflows, therefore it is not particularly distinguished. The sound of the word "and" is to understand that although the causes are different, the results are not different. Again, why are only these the cause of ripening, and others are not? Therefore, it is said to be of the nature of ripening, meaning it is of the nature of ripening. To show that others are not of the nature of ripening, the question is asked: Why is it not declared in the sutras? This phrase appears in detail. Just as rotten seeds, even if fully moistened, cannot be the cause of sprouts because of their weak strength, similarly, those not declared in the sutras, because they are with outflows, even if fully moistened by craving, cannot be the cause of ripening because of their weak strength. Also, just as hard seeds not fully moistened by water cannot be the cause of sprouts, similarly, those without outflows, because they are virtuous, although hard, cannot be the cause of ripening because they are not fully moistened by craving. One is not the cause of ripening because it lacks its own power, and the other is not the cause of ripening because it does not possess the cooperating conditions. Those that are not associated, this phrase appears in detail. Ripening is of the nature of the desire realm, etc., therefore it will inevitably be associated with the desire realm, etc. If it is not associated, then it cannot be the cause associated with ripening, because there is no definite cause. The remaining ones refer to those non-virtuous ones with outflows. Because it is of two kinds, the meaning of this phrase is that because virtue and non-virtue themselves are hard, they possess their own power, and are possessed by

Therefore, it has the condition of acting together because it is moist. What is the cause of maturation? If maturation is called an entity, then maturation is maturation. There, the cause of maturation is an abbreviation of the sixth case. However, if maturation is achieved through maturation, then this is an action. There, maturation itself is the cause, so the cause of maturation is homogeneous. Therefore, what does it become means, what fault does it become here. If it is the cause of maturation, then "the eye is born from maturation" will not occur. Just like this, the eye is not born from maturation. Then, what is it? From the cause of maturation, it means that it is born from karma. However, if maturation itself is the cause, then "the maturation of karma" will not occur. Why? Because karma is the cause of maturation, and maturation is also not the nature of karma. Either way is fine, as has been said before. If the cause of maturation is maturation, then by abbreviating the words, and the word of the cause is not manifest, then this does not contradict "the eye is born from maturation." Or, if maturation itself is the cause, so the cause of maturation is maturation, then when the karma that has matured in the fruitional period becomes maturation, it is called maturation. In this way, it does not contradict "the maturation of karma." The fruit is maturation, so it is called maturation. It is not achieved by becoming maturation. Maturing differently means that the fruit of maturation is a synonym for a fruit that is different from the cause. Just like this, the cause is unwholesome and wholesome with outflows, and the fruit is unexplained, so it is different from the cause. By explaining the cause of maturation, this also shows the detailed explanation that in the desire realm, the cause of maturation is one aggregate.
