Because (light) is clear, but not form. What is unclear cannot be the result of clarity. It is prevented that an inferior cause is the result of manifest action. It is not prevented that clarity is unclearness. If it were not so, it would not become the three kinds of consciousness, because merely observing the thing itself is less. The soft state is of the ten states such as soft, which is the source of extensive saying. The states of soft, tender, round, hardening, and stretching of limbs are the five states in the womb. The states of child, youth, adolescence, middle age, and old age are the five states of birth. Among them, the soft state is growing, therefore, the previously born state is the co-equal cause of the later born state, so it is also the cause of all ten states. Similarly, tender and so on should also be said to all tender and so on. The so-called "separating one by one", here the result of the co-equal cause is not to be established as previous or simultaneous, so it is said to be "separating one by one". If that were the case, then the initial soft form would become causeless, and the final old age would become fruitless, so it is said "same kind", meaning the same life. The so-called "other kinds are the same", for example, the ten states included in the previously born human kind are also the co-equal cause of all ten states included in the later born human kind, because they are the same, and they are previously born. The so-called "for the external", for barley and rice and so on, this method should also be appropriately said. Some Sautrāntikas say that form does not have a co-equal cause, but depends on conditions, it is birth, because the soil taken from the bottom of the well can produce sprouts. Like this, they say that there is no seed of it there, considering these, so it is extensively said "whatever is of form". Old

"Cause" and "Lord" refer to the meaning of being the cause of arising and the condition of being the dominant condition. Among them, the great elements of the desire realm, because they have already arisen, and have not been attained and prophesied, and are form, are not the co-emergent cause, the ripening cause, the pervasive cause, and the equipotential cause of the future great elements. Then what is it? Because of similarity and previous arising, it is the homogenous cause, and among the various conditions, it should be known as the dominant condition. Here, arising without a cause seems to contradict reason, because from the soil taken from the bottom of a well, even if there are seeds before the sprouts arise, the sprouts, leaves, and nodes will not grow because of the lack of conditions. It is not like that, if there is no homogenous cause, then either everything arises from it, or nothing arises at all, because there is no definite cause. This also clarifies the saying "reeds grow from horns", because there are also seeds of reeds in the horns. If all things are the homogenous cause of all things without definite examination of similarity, then the nine grounds and the five aggregates would become the homogenous cause of each other, which is also unreasonable, therefore, in order to examine similarity definitively, the question is: "What kind of all things?" will be explained in detail. Even so, is it that what arises later is also the homogenous cause of what arose earlier, and what arises simultaneously is also what arises simultaneously, and what has not arisen will also become what has arisen? Therefore, it is said: "Those are not all." Then what is it? It is said, "Those that arose earlier." Those that arose earlier are those that arose earlier. The arising itself includes the past and the present, and prevents the future, that is, the past dharmas are the homogenous cause of the past, future, and present arising dharmas, and the present arising dharmas are the homogenous cause of the future arising dharmas, but the future arising dharmas are not the homogenous cause, this will be explained. "Where does this come from" refers to whether it comes from scriptural authority or from reasoning?
