It is for the sake of action. Saying "done" is for the sake of clearly refuting. The sound of Dharma is for the sake of clearly revealing selflessness. Saying form and so on is for the sake of distinguishing the five aggregates of morality and so on, because they do not include all conditioned phenomena. Saying aggregates is for the sake of negating objects such as form. If form and so on are all done, then shouldn't it be said "done"? Is it meaningless for the differences of doing to be gathered together? It is not meaningless, it is to show that there is nothing that is produced by only one cause. If it is said "done", then the fact that form and so on are produced by one cause will not be negated. Aging, sickness, and death, and so on, are aggregates because they are harmed by the differences of living nearby. To show the meaning of the sound of conditioned phenomena, it is said that "those that are done by the gathering and meeting of causes are conditioned phenomena." "Gathering" means assembling, which means mutually conforming to the production of the result. "Meeting" means becoming one. This "gathering" shows that different times gather together in accordance with the result. For example, past consciousness and future dharmas. "Meeting" refers to different times, for example, for eye consciousness, the eye and form are different. Some say that the former is mutually meeting, and the latter shows the action of all causes. Through the former, it may sometimes be suspected that even one cause can do it. Therefore, it is said that "there is nothing that is produced by only one cause." As it is said: "The mind of the base and mental factors, etc." This is how it is explained. Others say that the former is the word of showing, and the latter is the word of explanation, because it is only a synonym of the former. If, when in a state of being, by adding "ཀཱ" the undone becomes done, then how can the unborn dharma be called conditioned? Therefore, because it is of the same kind, even for the future...

It is inconsistent, saying "like milk." For example, it is established because it is of the same kind as it, just as one says "milk" to something that is not squeezed out, so too, future phenomena of arising and non-arising phenomena are called "conditioned phenomena," because they possess characteristics such as arising, through the way of distinguishing conditioned phenomena, it is because they are of the same kind as it. Or because their own characteristics are similar, it is because they are of the same kind as it. The Blessed One also taught about time, etc., but if there are no other phenomena belonging to the conditioned and unconditioned, then why? Are time, etc., conditioned? Or are they unconditioned? Therefore, they themselves are widely called time. Or, they themselves are called time, etc., thereby establishing the names of conditioned phenomena that are famous in the scriptures. Form, etc., themselves are phenomena of arising and ceasing, therefore they are the times of past, present, and future. This shows that time is not another existence different from the aggregates of form, etc. The word "change" should also be applied individually. If in the world, isn't the word "path" spoken of for something that should be walked upon? Then, how is the word "path" specifically explained to the agent? In the world, it is seen that the word "path" is spoken of to the agent, saying, "This path has reached a certain village or courtyard, is reaching, and will reach," therefore, the word "path" can be taught to the agent. If asked: Because impermanence itself devours, what does it mean to be called "བྱ"? In the manner of etymology, it is said to be time, meaning to devour, decay, and destroy. There appear "speech is language" and so on. It is about that speech. The basis is a place or support, language refers to name, and name expresses meaning, therefore it will be explained. If name is the basis of speech, then the aggregates of form, etc., are not the basis of speech, because name is a part of the conditioned aggregate. Therefore, it is said, "Because the basis with meaning is spoken." Again, if asked: How should one understand that the basis with name is spoken?
