When it is said, "Those other than the corresponding characteristics," why are those not the simultaneous causes of the mind? Because those only act on the characteristics of the mind, so they enter the same dharma and are distant. Others say there are fourteen, just like the corresponding characteristics, the characteristics of many grounds also do not possess the nature of acting on the mind, therefore they are not at all simultaneous causes. Therefore, in the treatise called "The Discrimination," if the characteristics of many grounds are not the simultaneous causes of the mind, then the statement that "the truth of suffering has the cause of the view of the aggregates of destruction" will be explained in detail. In the truth of suffering, there are those that have the cause of the view of the aggregates of destruction, and there are also those that do not have the cause of the view of the aggregates of destruction. There are those that are the cause of the view of the aggregates of destruction, and there are also those that have the cause of the view of the aggregates of destruction. Are there those that are neither have the cause of the view of the aggregates of destruction, nor are the cause of the view of the aggregates of destruction? To this, seeing the four truths and the subtle defilements to be abandoned by cultivation, and all feelings and so on that are similar to those are called the truth of suffering, and one should think about those in this way. To this, having the cause of the view of the aggregates of destruction, but not being the cause of the view of the aggregates of destruction, is the past and present subtle defilements produced by the view of suffering to be abandoned, and apart from the truths of suffering that are similar to those, and the subtle defilements produced in the past that are universally present to be abandoned by the view of arising, and those that are produced like that, and apart from the truths of suffering that are produced simultaneously with those, and the future view of the aggregates of destruction, and apart from the truths of suffering that are similar to those, and the view of the aggregates of destruction, and apart from the birth, aging, dwelling, and impermanence of the dharmas that are similar to those, what is any afflicted truth of suffering other than those? That is the future subtle defilements to be abandoned by the view of suffering, and feelings and so on that are similar to those, and the universal to be abandoned by the view of arising.

Those non-sentient beings of the three times (past, present, and future), and the universally occurring future, and feelings and so on that correspond to them, and cessation and the path of seeing, and the three times to be abandoned by meditation, and feelings and so on that correspond to them. These are the cause of the view of the aggregates, and also the non-cause of the view of the aggregates. Thus, the previously arisen view of the aggregates is the cause of these by the universally occurring cause, but these are not the cause of the view of the aggregates, because they have not arisen, and are not universally occurring. The second case does not exist. What is both the cause of the view of the aggregates and also the effect of the view of the aggregates? Therefore, the phrase "except for what" is stated. Except for the arising and so on of those dharmas that correspond to the view of the aggregates, these are produced by the previously arisen view of the aggregates by the universally occurring cause, and thus they arise because they are produced by the co-emergent cause. They also produce the currently arising view of the aggregates by the co-emergent cause. Therefore, the arising and so on of feelings and so on are the co-emergent cause of the mind. Therefore, it is established that the treatise says, "The co-emergent cause is fifty-four dharmas." That which is not the effect of the view of the aggregates, nor the cause of the view of the aggregates, is the non-afflicted truth of suffering, which is not the cause of the view of the aggregates by the universally occurring cause, nor the cause of equal flow, nor the co-emergent cause, and the view of the aggregates is not its cause either. Here, in the phrase "except for what," we only explain arising and so on, and place them nearby here for their meaning. Whatever else is "except for what," it should also be said that it is both the cause of the view of the aggregates and also the effect of the view of the aggregates. For those who do not recite "dharmas corresponding to it," how would the treatise of the Abhidharma contradict? This thought should be removed from the mind.
