The meaning lies in this. Some believe that the form of an Arhat and the form of one who has not attained are without outflows. Therefore, among all conditioned phenomena, only the truth of the path is without outflows, and other conditioned phenomena are not, this is certain. Similarly, some only acknowledge that discriminative cessation is unconditioned and without outflows, but not space. Because space is conditioned, it arises solely from sound. They do not acknowledge non-discriminative cessation. Others acknowledge that the three unconditioned phenomena are imputed, but not substantial. Therefore, even though it has been refuted that the unconditioned itself is with outflows, in order to make it known that one should acknowledge the unconditioned itself, the without outflows itself, and the substantial itself, it is said, "the three unconditioned phenomena are also." On the other hand, if all phenomena are briefly summarized, they can be summarized into two types: phenomena with outflows and phenomena without outflows. Regarding phenomena with outflows, they have already been explained in terms of their own nature and characteristics, that is, "conditioned phenomena other than the path" is their own nature. "Because in these phenomena, afflictions increase" is their characteristic. Similarly, for phenomena without outflows, it is also necessary to explain them in terms of their own nature and characteristics, therefore it is said, "the truth of the path without outflows, and the three unconditioned phenomena are also." This is said in terms of their own nature, while the characteristic is "because in these phenomena, afflictions do not increase." This is understood through the opposite way. Therefore, this is both to explain the characteristics and to reiterate what has already been said, so mentioning the unconditioned is to serve as a basis and because it is not widely known. The conjunction "and" means collection. The particle "also" means certainty. In order to refute other views, it shows that there are only these three. For example, some people think that dependent origination is also a conditioned phenomenon.

If not, it is because those two do not belong to the category of truth. The distinction between space and non-discriminating cessation, although not a means of pacifying afflictions, even so, incidentally reveals all uncontaminated dharmas. Because they will not become uncontaminated, this is called "non-retrogression." Unconditioned phenomena are discussed at the end of their exposition because of the few things they explain, and conditioned phenomena are not, because they are not famous for explaining many things. What are the three? The question is asked: space and cessation are two. This is said. Space is very famous in the world, so it has been mentioned before. Cessation itself has not been heard of by anyone, and that is why it is said, what are those two? Because they do not increase defilements, this is called "non-retrogression." Among them, for what is called unobstructed space, there are three kinds of unconditioned phenomena. Among them, because for unobstructedness, everything without things and without obstacles will become space itself. Unobstructedness is not just without obstruction, nor is it anything other than obstruction, so what is it? It is a difference in nature, and that is why it is said to be the nature of unobstructedness. Obstruction is obstruction, but this is the nature of unobstructedness, so it is unobstructedness, it is the opposite of obstruction, just like non-meaning. Negation is because it is the meaning of the opposite side, therefore it is said that this has the nature of unobstructedness. For this reason, feelings and so on will not become space itself, because feelings and so on are not of the nature of unobstructedness, because they are of the nature of experience and so on. Where is the place of form? By saying this, it also shows that this does exist by way of function. Because form abides in a place, it is impossible to find the place of birth in other places that cannot be distinguished, but not by others, because it does not abide in a place. Therefore, it is said of form itself. This is the form element that encompasses the aggregates.
