Why is this called absorption? Because one wants to generate (this absorption). Those people consider absorption as the path and consider the unconscious as liberation. Because the unconscious is the result of maturation, and so on. The result of maturation is an unspecified dharma. This absorption is virtuous because it is included in meditation, but it is not afflicted or unspecified. Its result of maturation is the accomplishment of the five aggregates in unconscious beings, which refers to the presence of mind and mental factors at the time of birth and death. Experiencing the result after birth is like the uninterrupted sins. Obtaining it (absorption) means that when one completely declines, one thinks that one has declined from benefit and a strong sadness arises. Therefore, because they only respect generating it (absorption), the Buddhas do not tame them either, because they presume to have directly seen cessation. Therefore, whoever generates this (absorption) and then completely declines will also be explained in detail. The word "it is said" is to indicate other views. Others say that some experience the result after birth, while others are uncertain. Whether one has completely declined or not, if one begins to see faults because of encountering a virtuous friend, then one will enter the right path from there, and after entering, one will not generate it again, nor will one manifest it. They think that they are only ordinary people, not noble ones. Just by entering the right path, the noble ones can attain cessation for beings in the lower realms, the unconscious, and those born in the Great Brahma, not through their respective analyses, because this is the place of views and is contrary to the noble path. Therefore, they see it as a place of downfall, so they do not enter absorption. The noble ones also do not think that they will necessarily be liberated from existence, because liberation and the path to liberation have already appeared. After obtaining the fourth dhyana, like meditation, can this (absorption) also be obtained in the past and future? This is (a question) for a yogi.

Those who have attained the fourth dhyana, regarding the fourth dhyana that has been previously attained since beginningless time, and what will be attained in the future, therefore, is it asked whether it is the same as this, what has passed and what will be attained in the future? "For the time being, others also," etc., is explained extensively. If those who manifest and pursue, and those whose samadhi belongs to them, even ordinary beings cannot attain it, then what need is there to mention the noble ones whose samadhi does not belong to them? "Mixed also" refers to what has been previously attained since beginningless time. "Accomplished by great effort" is a synonym for accomplished by great effort. Therefore, even if familiar, it cannot be attained without diligence. Then, how is it? One attains the same time. "This" is like obtaining individual liberation vows at all times, because one obtains what was not there before, one cannot obtain what has passed. Because there is no mind, one cannot obtain what will be obtained in the future either. Therefore, at first, one can only obtain the present time. In the second moment and so on, one is also associated with the past, what has not arisen is associated with the present. What has arisen is only associated with the past. "As long as one does not give up, it continues" means until it completely deteriorates. Because it is without mind, one cannot obtain what will be obtained in the future, like the divine eye and the divine ear. Because forbearance and so on appear as clear, one can obtain the future associated with the mind, but because it is material, the other is not. It is said, "with that," etc. As from where one stops the mind and mental factors, that is the non-conceptual samadhi, as it is said, similarly from where, one stops the mind and mental factors that are free from attachment to the realm of nothingness, that is the cessation samadhi. Regarding "the thought of abiding in peace precedes," for what the mind abides in, the thought that "this is peace" precedes, thus connecting the words. The complete arising and complete aversion to thought and feeling is the cessation samadhi.
