Because there is no view, the substance of those seeds has not been destroyed, therefore, it is together with those who are born without effort and those who are endowed with uninterrupted roots of virtue. By what is the substance of the seed destroyed? Therefore, it is said, "That is destroyed," and so on. How is it understood that the root of virtuous dharmas is never completely destroyed? Again, it is because the root of virtue connects the continuum, and those whose seeds are completely cut off also arise again. In the sutra it is also said, "Oh monks, the root of virtue of Devadatta himself connects the continuum." If it is never completely destroyed, then the Blessed One would say that for such a person, virtuous dharmas will become invisible and non-virtuous dharmas will arise. There is a completely uninterrupted root of virtue like dust, therefore, will that also be completely and thoroughly cut off at other times? This should be understood as being spoken in terms of the absence of anything that does not manifest in any way. Those who are born through effort are extensively produced, it is the freedom of birth itself. What is that? It is a special ability that arises from that and becomes the cause of that, because there is no obstruction to that, because no obstacle has been created, it is together with those. Therefore, here, "only the seed is uprooted from the root" is extensively produced, among which what is not uprooted from the root is the seed of those who are afflicted by the supramundane path. What has not been destroyed is the seed of those themselves by the mundane path, and the seeds of those who have obtained virtue after it has arisen from the perverted views that do not universally operate. Becoming vast at the time of empowerment is for those who are born through effort, it is the occasion for the saying of seed. Becoming vast is from repeatedly generating from reasonable diligence. Obstruction is from not striving or striving wrongly for the sake of generating. What is the saying of "seed"? It is asking in order to grasp it definitively by its own nature. When it comes to generating fruit, etc., the fruit is virtue, non-virtue, and

The dharmas that are not indicated, for them, the name and form that are able to produce an effect are called their seeds. Manifest or transmitted, manifest is without interval. Transmitted is belonging to its continuum, interrupted by other moments. Completely transformed, becoming distinct from others, is a distinction of transformation. That is a power that produces a result, after which the result arises. In order to distinguish from the transformation of the Samkhya school, it is said what is transformation. Therefore, it is said to transform into another continuum, meaning that the cause is not the same, the result is different from the cause. What is a continuum, there are two establishments of things, ultimate and conventional. If it is considered that the ultimate is a continuum, then there is no difference from the Samkhya school, because according to their view, the transformation of a permanent substance is also a transformation. If it exists in the conventional, then how is it known that it is another transformation? Because they ask wanting to know. Actions are those that become causes and results in the three times, the reason for saying both is that co-emergent beings are also things of cause and result, and undefiled dharmas such as right view, although not causes and results, are also of the three times. Therefore, if this is the case, then the continuous arising of actions is a continuum, it will be shown that the actions that become the proximate cause of the continuum, arising differently from before and after, are the transformation into another continuum. From where arising, etc., is explained extensively, if only the seeds arising from there are not eradicated from the root, and not damaged, it is said to be possessed, then one will never be able to cultivate mindfulness, and this is the same for attainment. Therefore, it should be known that arising from there, accepting, and not eliminating, are the meanings of possession. In that case,
