The answer is: What contradiction is there in this? The Vaibhashikas say, if, like feeling and perception, coarse conceptualization in one mind is also another dharma, and subtle examination is also another, what contradiction is there in this? What reason or basis is there? If, like feeling and perception, the two, conceptualization and examination, are also of different kinds, then there will be no contradiction. If they are of different kinds, feeling is coarse and perception is subtle, so although the two are coarse and subtle, they do not contradict each other in one mind. Then, for conceptualization and examination, there is no such difference in kind. Apart from being coarse and subtle, they have not determined their own nature. For one kind that has not determined its nature, there are small and large, and it is impossible for coarse and subtle to occur simultaneously in one mind-substance. Not only are they commonly coarse and subtle, but also, like feeling and perception, they are of different kinds. Therefore, it is not contradictory for the two, conceptualization and examination, to occur simultaneously. Then, the difference in kind between conceptualization and examination, like feeling and perception, must be determined and stated that each other's own nature is particularly excellent. If it is not stated, it cannot be understood. Because the difference is subtle, it is difficult to state. Therefore, it is revealed through small and large. It is revealed and manifested through a small mind. It becomes manifest to examine. This is the last word. By what power does subtle become manifest to examine? There is a slight reason for this. Similarly, coarseness should also be stated. If so, it will not be revealed. Why? Because the kinds are different. Why? Because each kind is small and large, so the difference in kind will not be revealed. The teacher Samghabhadra said that because the nature of dharma is shown in many ways, it shows the nature of self-nature, similarity, cause, effect, ability, object, etc., but it is definitely not only through self-nature, the self-nature of dharma is completely understood.

It is said to be difficult to count. Others say that conceptualization and analysis do not arise simultaneously in one mind, because they arise in categories, so it would not lead to a single moment of mind being both coarse and subtle. This is their thought. How is the meditation arising from the earth? "The first dhyana has five branches, conceptualization and analysis, joy and bliss, and equanimity." Thus, it is said that the first dhyana has five branches. It should be said to have four branches, because neither conceptualization nor analysis exists. This is their thought. The first dhyana arising from the earth is said to have five branches, because sometimes it has conceptualization, and sometimes it has analysis. Therefore, saying it that way is in terms of continuity, not in terms of a moment, because in a single moment, conceptualization and analysis cannot arise simultaneously. Pride and arrogance, etc., are contrary to reverence, manifestation, service, etc. The mind-born dharma that praises oneself and disparages others is pride. Any one, refers to both being it and not being it. Being proud in mind by completely comparing oneself to others, that is pride. I think I have generosity, I have wealth, I have discipline, I have wisdom, like this, being attached to one's own merits, thereby giving rise to the pride that completely exhausts the roots of virtue of the mind, that is arrogance. Or, because it makes it completely exhausted, so it is completely exhausted, just like the summer sun dries up the spring. The mind-born dharma, arising from attachment to one's own merits, that is the complete exhaustion that manifests virtuous dharma. Others say, just like arising from alcohol, etc. Just like the universal joy arising from alcohol, the universal joy arising from desire is also the same. In the difference of universal joy, saying the difference of universal joy is to distinguish it from mental pleasure. The mind-born dharmas together with the mind have been explained separately. For the time being, the mind is its own nature, aggregate, source, and realm.
