It arises in a mind that possesses afflictions. Because it is not otherwise, it is said to be a great afflicted ground. For the unwholesome, it is shamelessness and recklessness. The word "is" there is to firmly grasp the meaning of "only unwholesome." "Those two" and so on are: disrespect, recklessness, shamelessness, disregard for wrongdoing, and fearlessness. It starts from there. "Because these have minor afflicted ground" etc. will be explained in detail. "Minor" means few. Those are aimed at all afflicted minds, and in the object of focus, they are also focused on one by one, not collectively. "Only ignorance" etc., where the word "only" is to exclude greed etc. Because anger etc. are autonomous, they are not equally possessed with greed etc. "To be abandoned by cultivation" etc., is not to be abandoned by seeing, because anger etc. are to be abandoned by cultivation. "Only the mind ground" etc., is not equally possessed with eye consciousness etc., because anger etc. are of the mind. The word "and" means جمع. It will be declared thus: because it is equally possessed only with the mind consciousness that arises together with the ignorance to be abandoned by cultivation, it is called the minor afflicted ground. "These will be declared from the near afflictions" etc., starts from the place of the Abhidharmakosha. Furthermore, there are "six afflictive stains, and near afflictions are also autonomous." It starts from there. Those five mental factors are not only those, so what are they? There are other uncertain ones as well. What are those? Therefore, it is said "Vitarka (thought), Vicara (analysis), regret, sleep, etc." The word "etc." includes greed, anger, pride, and doubt. Here it is said: Vitarka and Vicara, regret, sleep and anger, greed etc., pride and doubt, these eight are uncertain. This is a summary verse.

That is, these do not necessarily occur together. Now, we must distinguish in all minds, which ones will have non-carnivorous ghosts arise. First, the mind that operates in the desire realm has five aspects, namely: virtue is only one type; non-virtue is of two types: where there is only ignorance without admixture, and where it exists together with other afflictions such as desire; the unspecified is also of two types: existing together with the view of the perishable aggregate and the view of clinging to extremes, and the obscured unspecified and the unobscured unspecified, born from maturation, and the wayfarer, the craftsman, and the emanation. In the virtuous mind of the desire realm, only twenty-two arise, but it is not certain to say "only twenty-two," because in some cases it is increased by regret. Therefore, the uncertain many-ground dharmas are two: regret and sleep. Because these two are neither the six aggregates of consciousness, nor are they included in the three realms, nor are they purely afflictive. Therefore, in a virtuous mind, if there is an opportunity for regret, adding regret, it becomes twenty-three. The so-called "nature of evil deeds is regret," in reality, the action itself is related, but it is not a mental dharma. Therefore, it is explained in detail here. So, what is its own nature? It is said to be "remorse." If remorse focused on regret is called regret, then is it not the nature of evil deeds? Because the object is attributed to the object. For example, it is explained in detail that emptiness is the object, etc. Emptiness is the separation of the agent's person from the aggregates, and the door of samadhi liberation that focuses on it is called emptiness. The unpleasant is composed of things such as swelling and decay, and the non-attachment that focuses on it is called unpleasant. Or, because the place is attributed to the place, the remorse that focuses on evil deeds is called regret.

It is called regret. If you ask where you see the place being applied to the place, therefore, it is said in detail, "Even in the world," meaning that it is not limited to treatises alone. Regret is also a place of mental distress, because it arises from relying on it. Therefore, saying "regret" means that regret abides by the place, showing the nature of mental distress and later grief. Or, this is applying the result to the cause, the cause is regret, and the result is mental distress. Regarding that metaphor, for example, the six sources of contact, etc., are explained in detail. The sources of contact such as the eye are not previous actions, so what are they? Because they are the result of previous actions, it is said that they are "previous actions." If you ask, "What is the object of not doing anything?" etc., if the nature of evil deeds is regret, then not doing is not doing evil deeds, so its nature cannot be regret, which is the idea of asking. It is explained in detail, "For not doing, there is also what is called doing," which is the distress that arises from not doing good or non-virtue. If you ask, "What is good regret?" etc., the distress that arises from not giving alms, etc., and the distress that arises from doing non-virtue such as killing, that is good regret. Conversely, non-virtuous regret refers to the distress that arises from not doing non-virtue, and the great regret after doing good deeds. "Both of them also" refers to good and non-virtuous regret. "Also depends on both" refers to depending on good and non-virtue as mentioned above. In "having view," the word "and" means جمع (samāsa). "Non-virtue is" means following. Some of the differences in wisdom of those with many places alone, whatever wisdom that correctly thinks is view, and here it is considered evil. Therefore, it is said "wrong view," etc. "Four afflictions and anger, etc.," only twenty-one arise.
