Because when arising, it arises equally for all virtuous minds, but it has not been explained that there is no delusion (Tibetan: གཏི་མུག་མེད་པ་). In order to dispel the doubt that "the explanation of the many virtuous mental factors is incomplete," it is explained in detail that "there is also no delusion." This will be explained as follows: Those that arise for other virtuous minds are therefore many virtuous mental factors; then, they also arise for other minds, so they are not many virtuous mental factors, such as desire, etc. Therefore, there is no incompleteness in the explanation of the many virtuous mental factors. "Non-harming" means not contradicting harm, and the good nature of the mind that is contrary to liking to harm other sentient beings is non-harming. "Diligence is the mind's manifest joy" means that for the merits and faults that have already arisen, in order to protect, eliminate, generate what has not arisen, and not generate, the absence of laziness in the mind is manifest joy, where there is mind, it is reasonable to strive and be excellent, that is diligence. The word "and" here means including weariness and joy. Because these two are contradictory, it is impossible for them to exist in one mind, so it is not suitable as a multitude of virtuous mental factors, and it is not explained in the treatises. Therefore, two "of" words appear in order to target two sets. "Because these have many afflicted mental factors" refers only to those minds that correspond to this through the path of affliction, therefore, it is said, "Which are always on the afflicted mind." Among them, ignorance refers to unknowing. What is unknowing? It is not knowing. What is not knowing? It is not clear. What is not clear? Clarity is wisdom, therefore, for knowable things, the Dharma that becomes an obstacle to realizing them as they are and has the characteristic of unclearness is ignorance. "Negligence is not cultivating virtuous dharmas" means that it should be understood as "where there is." Not cultivating virtuous dharmas means that what has not been obtained is no longer obtained, and what has been obtained no longer appears. Cultivating

The opposite of diligence, which is called abandoning the cherishing of what is beneficial to oneself, is its definition. Laziness is the mind not being delighted, which refers to virtuous actions. Therefore, the opposite of diligence is mentioned. Thus, being delighted in actions that have been done and are unwholesome is not diligence. That is only referred to as laziness in the scriptures, as the Blessed One said, "The diligence of those non-Buddhists is only laziness." Therefore, it is called inferior diligence. Entering inferiority is laziness, and its essence is laziness itself. Disbelief is the mind not believing, which refers to the similar cause of wrong views, the state of not believing in truth, the Three Jewels, actions, and their results. Therefore, it is mentioned as the opposite of faith. What is dullness? This is the extensive explanation. Thinking that the first two words are explanations, the latter two words are spoken. The heaviness of mind caused by agitation and displeasure is dullness, which, when seized, makes the mind unusable in a foolish way. Therefore, this is called the opposite of extreme pliancy. The feeling of the body is the same, because it arises depending on the physical sense organs, so it is said to be of the body as if it were of the mind. Similarly, the dullness of the five aggregates of consciousness, although only of the mind, is said to be of the body because it depends on the physical sense organs. Agitation is the mind not being pacified, with songs, dances, and so on, as well as charming gestures and decorations, the mind is not pacified, and whatever it is associated with leads only to straying from the path, that is agitation. It is extensively explained in the Abhidharma, because the many grounds of afflictions such as forgetfulness, distraction, non-alertness, inappropriate attention, and wrong speech, and the afflictions of dullness that are not shown are not mentioned.
