That dharma which arises with a single focus is called samādhi, meaning that it holds the object without distraction, that is its definition. The teacher Śrīmati said: There are no many grounds, but if examined, there are only three, because the sūtra says: Feeling, perception, and consciousness arise together. But that is not the case. Other sūtras also explain other dharmas that arise with the mind, such as the Blessed One said: All are rooted in desire, arising from attention, with contact as the cause of arising, relying on feeling, with mindfulness as the master, with samādhi as the main, with wisdom as the supreme, with liberation as the essence, with nirvāṇa as the ultimate. Since this is the case, how can many grounds be said to be only three? If so, how can it be understood that there are ten different characteristics in one stream of consciousness? Therefore, it is said that "the differences of the mental factors are subtle," and those without diligence, without wisdom, and without faith cannot understand them. It is so subtle that it is difficult to completely distinguish even the streams, let alone the moments. Those with faith, diligence, and wisdom, some can completely distinguish from the perspective of their own nature, and some can completely distinguish from the perspective of their function, therefore it is said that it is difficult to completely distinguish. Because it is seen that consciousness and attention are very different in characteristics, it is said that "for the time being, even for colored things such as medicines," it is also the case for medicines with form such as haritaki, haritaki has five remaining tastes besides salty taste. Objects to be taken by the senses. This is to say that the objects taken by the tongue root, because it is difficult to take them definitively, it is difficult to completely distinguish them. Then, what is there to say about those dharmas that have no form and can only be grasped by the mind, that is, the dharmas that can only be grasped by the consciousness of the mind? Therefore, these are all declared because of faith, so they should be understood as they are, in order to understand the forms of many things simultaneously.

And. It is unreasonable to have those one after another. If other dharmas enter later, then various changes are seen in the continuums. Adding oil and grease, as well as dirt and water, and wind entering, in the continuum of the lamp, one after another, it is completely bright, and not obvious, and sound, and shaking, etc., because of seeing these. Therefore, saying that many grounds exist is just arranging it that way. Faith is the purity of mind, and for this statement, faith is contrary to the turbidity of mind. If it is similarly possessed, then it will be free from the turbidity of defilements and near defilements. If one relies on faith, then the mind will become pure, therefore it is said that the mind is pure. Faith is another dharma that arises from the mind, like a jewel water purifier. Because there is also physical purity, therefore it is said that the mind is pure. Others say that for truth and jewels, etc., completely believing in truths and jewels, as well as actions and results, is believing and wanting good, and cultivating interest is faith. Vigilance is cultivating all beneficial dharmas, saying this, if there is something, it should be said that way. Cultivating beneficial dharmas is wanting to obtain and rely on them, and that arises from vigilance. For that reason, it is said to be other than those. Cultivating other than beneficial dharmas is thinking that it is only non-existent. What is it that cherishes those themselves? For this statement, what does cherishing this statement mean to undertake? What is this undertaking? If there is something, it will undertake the beneficial aspect. Completely guarding the mind, for this statement, cherishing the body and speech and mind that are beneficial to oneself, completely guarding and undertaking, the dharma that is contrary to carelessness is vigilance. Extreme pliancy is the very ability of the mind, and for this statement, what is the very ability? It is the cause of the calmness and gentleness of the mind entering into correct attention, what other dharma arises from the mind, accompanied by it, the mind enters without clinging to the object, for that reason, it is said to be the very ability of the mind, burning
