The statement "both are supreme" means that cessation and the path are supreme because they are pure and correct. If one considers inferior things to be supreme, it can be considered holding a supreme view, but cessation and the path are not like that, so holding these two as supreme is not holding a supreme view. The statement "it increases through the door of the object of focus, it increases only through the door of equal possession" means that one should not definitively grasp "through the door of the object of focus" and question it, because whatever increases through the door of the object of focus undoubtedly also increases through the door of equal possession. Those that increase only through the door of equal possession are not through the door of the object of focus, such as the subtle increases that focus on the uncontaminated and unequal grounds. The meaning of subtle increase is to be in accordance with, so those pure conditions do not accord with causing them to arise. The statement "they are not in accordance with them" means that cessation and so on are not in accordance with wrong views and so on. The statement "like coarse food not increasing for someone with a wind disease" is like saying that coarse food does not increase for someone with a wind disease, which is similar to understanding that it does not suit the body. According to the former view, the meaning of subtle increase is dwelling, because it appears that "they do not dwell in them." The statement "what dharma" refers to feeling and so on. The statement "it is also not in those two" means that suffering is also not in those two, the form and formless realms. Why? Because there is no cause to harm others. The cause of harming others is harmful thoughts and so on, because these are absent. The statement "among the views, this is supreme" means that among the forms of views, this is particularly superior, which is a concluding statement that it is not entirely flawed. The cause of liberation is the path, and nihilism considers there to be no cause, so due to confusion, holding nihilism is flawed, therefore there is a difference.

Furthermore, "because of being completely ignorant of one's own nature" means that the view of the aggregates of existence (有身见, Sākāyadṛṣṭi) is because of clinging to the aggregates of appropriation belonging to one's own continuum as self or what belongs to self, so it is being completely ignorant of one's own nature. The view of clinging to extremes (执取边见, Antagrahadṛṣṭi) is also the same as it because of clinging to these (aggregates) as permanent or impermanent extremes. How are these views, the ignorance that exists in the same way as these views is also the same as it (the view of the aggregates of existence). "Because it is not entering into the aspect of harming others." Why? If it is said that the view of the aggregates of existence and the view of clinging to extremes are not declared, then, combining the context, these (the view of the aggregates of existence and the view of clinging to extremes) will not harm others in the slightest. If it is said that desiring high status and the pride of "I am" will also become faults in the same way, then desiring high status and the pride of "I am," because they do not contradict generosity, etc., and because of being completely ignorant of one's own nature, and because of not entering into the aspect of harming others, will also become the fault of not being declared. But this is also not accepted, therefore, because of these reasons, these two (desiring high status and the pride of "I am") are not not declared. With this thought, the treatises of previous teachers will establish the co-emergent view of the aggregates of existence, etc. "Discrimination is unwholesome" means that the discrimination made by those who assert self, such as the Samkhyas and the Ulūkas, is not not declared. Then what is it? It is declared. The view of clinging to extremes that arises from their discrimination is also unwholesome, even if it is not declared, because it is preceded by (the view of the aggregates of existence), so it is understood in the same way as it (the view of the aggregates of existence). "The rest here are unwholesome." Among them, "here" refers to the fact that the remaining (afflictions) that operate in the desire realm are to be taken up, so in the desire realm, the remaining afflictions such as the view of the aggregates of existence are harmful, and this must be determinedly understood. "Is or is not the root of unwholesome." "Is or is not" refers to combining the context from the ninety-eight subtle latent tendencies. Therefore it is said: "In the desire realm, desire, anger, and ignorance,
