Mutually, they are both common and distinct. That has already been explained. Thus, if one wishes to focus on the path, then the focus of the practices is in accordance with the aspect of Dharma-knowledge, from the ground of non-interruption up to the ground of the fourth dhyana. And the path that accords with the aspect of subsequent knowledge, from the ground of non-interruption up to the ground of the sphere of nothingness, is also the focus on the path, from the ground of the first dhyana, those very objects of focus, up to the objects of focus up to the peak of existence. Fortieth fascicle. If all that accords with the aspect of Dharma-knowledge is also mutually causal, then if one wishes to focus on the path, then by means of practices such as wrong views, the antidote to form and formlessness is called the path. If Dharma-knowledge is also made the object, then why do not those very wrong views and so forth also make the path that accords with the aspect of subsequent knowledge the object? If asked, because Dharma-knowledge and subsequent knowledge are mutually causal. If Dharma-knowledge and subsequent knowledge, etc., are extensively stated, subsequent knowledge is not the antidote to the desire realm, so those do not make it the object. Dharma-knowledge is the antidote to the desire realm, so even if it is the antidote to form and formlessness, it is made the object. Then, the extensive appearance of what is called Dharma-knowledge is from the tenets: "For the path of cultivation, there is cessation and path; for the path, what is Dharma-knowledge? It is the antidote to the three realms." Because it appears thus. Dharma-knowledge is the antidote to form and formlessness. Its very nature is such. Therefore, wrong views and so forth on the grounds of form and formlessness will become the object of the ninth ground. All of those are also not antidotes, and it appears extensively that all of those Dharma-knowledges are not antidotes to the realms of form and formlessness. What then? It is a little. Why? Because suffering and arising, etc., included in the path of cultivation of Dharma-knowledge, are not antidotes to those, they are not antidotes to the realms of form and formlessness.

It is a concluding remark. Therefore, Dharma-knowledge is not the object of wrong views, etc., which are practiced in the form and formless realms. Furthermore, to say extensively, "It is not everything either," Dharma-knowledge is not the antidote to all of the form and formless realms. Why? Because it is said in the scripture: "The cessation on the path of cultivation, and the Dharma-knowledge on the path." Because it is not the antidote to those to be abandoned by seeing. Here, because there is no beginning, and because it is not of the first, it is said that it is not an object, which is a conclusion. The Dharma-knowledge of suffering, origin, cessation, and path, etc., the Dharma-knowledge of the first suffering and origin, as previously stated, is not the antidote to the form and formless realms, and Dharma-knowledge is not to be abandoned by seeing and cultivation, it is not the antidote to the first to be abandoned by seeing, which is practiced in the form and formless realms. Therefore, Dharma-knowledge is of the same category as that, it is not the object of wrong views, etc., of the same category of the form and formless realms. Thus, it can be established that the object of the uncontaminated is the three realms, and the remaining eighty subtle increases, excluding the eighteen realms, are the objects of the contaminated. To say "It will not be abandoned" means that it is not to be abandoned because it has cut off attainment, which is a concluding remark. For example, the intention towards virtuous Dharma, the nature of manifest faith, is the correct view, because it has cut off attainment, it is not to be abandoned, this is also the same as that, therefore it is not the object of the uncontaminated. "Not harming, therefore not hatred," cessation and path, etc., transcend the nature of the nine aspects of all afflicted things, therefore there is no hatred. To say "Because it is pure in the true meaning," cessation is pure in the true meaning because it has abandoned the defilement of afflictions, and the path also becomes pure in the ultimate sense because of this, therefore it is pure in the ultimate sense. If someone thinks that what is pure is the holding of discipline and asceticism as the most supreme, this is not permissible to establish. This
