That is to say: Those are manifesting form and non-manifesting form. As it is said, the manifesting form has already been described. If it is necessary to describe the non-manifesting form, it has already been described above, because it arises from 'having no distracted mind.' Also, 'that is also not substantially existent' means that the non-manifesting form is also not substantially existent. The word 'also' means not only manifesting form. 'Because it is only a matter of having promised and not transgressing' means that the Sutra masters say: From this time onwards, having promised to abandon killing and so on, from then on, merely not doing those things is called non-manifesting form, and in that way it is not substantially existent. 'Those also because they have no self-nature' means that those past great elements also have no self-nature, like arising now. This will also be explained in the fifth chapter of the Treasury of Knowledge. Since they do not exist, how can they be the basis for this? Therefore, they are not substantially existent. 'Because there is no characteristic of form' means that the characteristic of form is that it is changeable, but because there is no obstruction, it is also not present here, therefore it is not substantially existent. The so-called three kinds are explained in detail, meaning that it is three kinds and stainless, so it is said to be three kinds of stainless form. The so-called uncreated path means the uncreated path, which is to have others do it, and not the path of action done by oneself. In these there are three kinds of form, and the stainlessness that is spoken of, and increase, and the uncreated path, and so on, so these causes are: three kinds of stainless form, spoken of, increase and the uncreated path, and so on. The word 'and so on' means that the monastic law is not said to be non-form, and the eightfold noble path is spoken of, and the Pratimoksha vows, and the inclusion of water and land. The so-called form gathering form means that only form gathers form, not by feeling and so on. It is said that there is visible and obstructive form,

Which form is cognized by which consciousness? The statement that there is invisible and resistant form refers to which sense organs, such as the eye, that are form-related? The statement that there is neither visible nor resistant form refers to which non-manifesting form that is cognized by consciousness and included in the sphere of phenomena? The extensive explanation called "excluding non-manifesting form" refers to which teaching in the sutra that gathers invisible and non-resistant forms, excluding non-manifesting form? There is also no form free from defilements, because it should be connected to "excluding non-manifesting form." It is unreasonable to say that it is the manifesting form of body and speech when abiding in the truth of the path. Among the seven objects of merit arising from material things, material things refer to monasteries and temples, etc. Because it arises from them, it is said to arise from material things. If there is no material thing, then it does not arise from material things. The term "constantly" means again and again. Uninterrupted means without interruption. Here, the sutra says that the Blessed One was residing in the Ghositarama monastery in the country of Kauśāmbī. Then, the venerable Encouragement went to the Blessed One, and after arriving, bowed to the Blessed One's feet with his head, and then sat down on one side. The venerable Encouragement said to the Blessed One: Venerable, are there great fruits, great benefits, great glory, and great extent to the objects of merit arising from material things? The Blessed One said to him, Encouragement, there are. Encouragement, these seven are objects of merit arising from material things, from great fruit to great extent. A son or daughter of a faithful family who possesses these, whether walking, sitting, lying down, or not lying down, will constantly and uninterruptedly increase merit and will only increase merit. What are the seven? Encouragement, this is a son or daughter of a faithful family, to the Sangha of monks from the four directions,

Offering Arhats, this exhortation is the first of the meritorious deeds arising from material things, from great fruit to vastness. Correspondingly, the son or daughter of the first lineage is called, increasing merit, only approaching birth, until here. Another exhortation is that the son or daughter of a faithful lineage joyfully builds a temple. This is the second great fruit of meritorious deeds arising from material things, from here to only approaching birth, until here. Another exhortation is that the son or daughter of a faithful lineage offers bedding and cushions in the temple, such as beds and low beds, cushions with linings, cotton pads, pillows, and round cushions. This exhortation is the third of the meritorious deeds arising from material things, as before. Another exhortation is that the son or daughter of a faithful lineage continuously offers food that is suitable for offerings in the temple. This exhortation is the fourth great fruit of meritorious deeds arising from material things, as before. Another exhortation is that the son or daughter of a faithful lineage gives alms to those who come and go suddenly. This exhortation is the fifth of the meritorious deeds arising from material things, as before. Another exhortation is that the son or daughter of a faithful lineage gives alms to the sick and those who care for the sick. This is the sixth of the meritorious deeds arising from material things, as before. Another exhortation is that if the son or daughter of a faithful lineage encounters strong winds, bad places, great storms, or rain, from strong winds to rain, they provide various kinds of protection or supplies, and then say to the noble ones, "Please enjoy these of mine, do not let your body get wet, do not let the Dharma robes get wet by the rain, please sit comfortably." Thus offering to the Sangha. This exhortation is the seventh great fruit of meritorious deeds arising from material things.
