So, how should this "tainted" be eliminated? If it cannot be eliminated in this way, then form also exists, and the person also exists. How should this be established? It is merely establishing its existence by relying on the object of perception. This method should also be applied to the distinctions between dharmas. For example, "yellow is different from blue," under what circumstances is this eliminated? When blue is perceived, yellow is not perceived. Later perception is through perceiving with another object of perception, so yellow is also said to be different from blue. In this way, the person is also perceived through another object of perception, so it will become different from form. Similarly, just as the previous moment is different from the next moment, it should be illustrated in this way. Similarly, it should also be explained in the distinctions between dharmas. What does this mean? If it is said to be through others, then, because of perceiving at different times, it will become different, such as the sound of a large drum being different from the sound of a small drum, the previous moment being different from the next moment. Just as it was said earlier, "blue is different from yellow, the previous moment is different from the next moment." If it is said to be through others, then, starting from "it should also be explained in the distinctions between dharmas," it is explained in detail that due to the difference in object and nature, and the same nature but perceived at different times, it is only showing the difference. So, just like form and person, what is explained in detail is that if, like form and person, it cannot be said to be different, then those objects of perception cannot be said to be different either. If it is said in this way, then, therefore, conditioned phenomena cannot be said to be unspeakable, and those objects of perception, conditioned phenomena, cannot be said to be unspeakable either. In this way, the tenet is destroyed. The tenet is that the person itself cannot be spoken of. If this is the case, this tenet will be destroyed, because conditioned phenomena cannot be spoken of either. If it is said, "If this exists," what is explained in detail is that if it cannot be said, "These are form or not form," then why did the Blessed One say from "form is not self" to "consciousness is not self"?
