When the Buddha and his disciples pass away into complete nirvana, and the darkness of ignorance obscures the true nature, those who become self-willed, incurable, and enter into evil thoughts with their own views, you have disturbed the teachings of the Bhagavan through words and meanings! Self-arisen, self-arisen, those who cherish the teachings, when the supreme, peaceful departed protector of beings is no more. This second verse summarizes the reason for the meaning of the previously stated verse. When the Buddhas and the sons of the Buddhas have all passed away into nirvana, and beings are without a protector, the causes that lead to the decline of the teachings, such as the defilement of faults like views, become their own enjoyment, and they act as they please in this world today. Therefore, it is like life being taken away secretly, like life being taken away secretly. That is to say, when the faults of knowledge still have power, those who desire liberation from knowledge should be mindful. From the Explanation of the Abhidharmakosha, "Meaning Clarified," composed by the teacher, the son of the king, Grakpa'i Shenyen, the eighth chapter of the Kosha, which is the teaching on entering into samadhi. Sixty volumes. Again, is there liberation in anything other than this? It says, "Those who desire liberation should be mindful." Therefore, the teacher means that this alone is the method of liberation, and there is no other method of liberation other than this. Therefore, those who desire liberation should be mindful of this. Therefore, the questioner also asks in detail, is there liberation in anything other than this? The answer is: no. Why? Because of clinging to the perverted view of self. The non-Buddhists cling to the perverted view of self, therefore they cling to the perverted view of self. Its essence is itself. Therefore, there is no other liberation. This meaning is also explained in the praise: If there is self-grasping in the mind, the cycle of birth and death will not cease. If there is a view of self, the heart of self-grasping will not waver. Therefore, there is no other teacher who proclaims the selflessness of beings. Therefore, there is no other path to complete peace other than your system.

The proof for this is that the Samkhyas and Ulukas, etc., do not have liberation, because they are attached to the inverted view of "self," like a person who has not seen Suchness. The afflictions arise from grasping at self, as it is said in the scriptures: "In this world, the views of some shramanas and brahmins are different, and those are rooted in the view of the destructible aggregates." etc., extensively explained. If there is a view of "self," then afflictions such as attachment to "self" will arise. Regarding "the explicit statement of self only applies to the continuum of the aggregates," the explicit statement of self is the imputation called "self." What is said is not referring to others, meaning that it is not referring to the imputation other than the continuum of the aggregates. Why is it so? Because there is no direct perception and inference. Saying "because there is no direct perception and inference" is thinking that because there is no direct perception and inference, therefore it does not exist. The scriptures are included in inference, so they are not stated separately. Those can be directly perceived if there are no obstacles, and "no obstacles" means that there are no obstacles to the object of perception, such as being too close or too far. "Direct perception" is the distinction of the object of perception, and is synonymous with the object of perception itself. Or, the object of perception is the measure of direct perception, because it cognizes, therefore it is the object of perception. The six objects refer to the sense bases of form, sound, smell, taste, and touch, as well as the dharma base, which is the nature of feeling, etc., the realm of yogis, and beyond conceptual thought. What is mind? It is the object of direct perception, the mind that has just ceased is cognized by the consciousness of the mind that arises subsequently, it is the consciousness of attachment or aversion, being associated with pleasure or being associated with suffering, etc. Others say that it is the object of self-awareness. These two direct perceptions are the apprehended aspect and the apprehending aspect. Or, extensively explained by inference, etc.
