Therefore, the former two are called "excellent" because of their excellence, that is, because the extreme pliancy of the first and second dhyanas is superior to the extreme pliancy of the third dhyana, because the former dhyanas are purer, the third is more excellent. The phrase "when" is explained in detail, that is, when a noble Shravaka disciple realizes and perfects the bliss born of perfect solitude through the body, abiding in it, then these five dharmas will be abandoned, and these five dharmas, namely, inner delight, joy, extreme pliancy, bliss, and samadhi, will be fully cultivated and perfected. If extreme pliancy and bliss are not different, how can these become five? If the meaning is different, then the bliss in all three dhyanas is only bodily bliss, which is proven. If the consciousness of the body arises when entering into equipoise, how does it arise? Here it is said that the extreme pliancy born of the specialty of samadhi is called extreme pliancy, because experiencing bliss will spread throughout the body due to the wind that is in accordance with the feeling of bliss, that is, it pervades the body. What does it mean? Only the consciousness of the body arises. If one falls away from samadhi because of external distraction? If one thinks that one will fall away from samadhi because of external distraction due to the arising of the consciousness of the body, that is, because of distraction towards external objects, that is not so, because it is explained in detail that it is born of samadhi, so it will not be so. Why? Born of samadhi, it occurs within the body, not outside, that is its definition. The bliss of the body, which is the same as the consciousness of the body, has the bliss of feeling, because it is in accordance with samadhi, so it will not fall away from samadhi, that is its definition. No, because of that very reason, that is, precisely because of that reason, when the consciousness of the body arises, it will not rise, because it is in accordance with samadhi, that is its definition. That manifests as

Just as soon as meditation arises, one thinks of abiding in meditation. Because the body's consciousness that acts in the desire realm does not grasp the touch that acts in the form realm, therefore the body's consciousness only acts in the form realm, and not in the desire realm. Precisely because of this, the happiness that corresponds to it cannot become a limb of meditation. If one thinks this way, it is because an extremely tamed consciousness has arisen. This is because through generating the power of meditation, the body's sense faculty that acts in the desire realm can grasp what acts in the form realm, and the body's sense faculty that is in equipoise becomes the basis for the consciousness of the body of the higher realms in that state. It will also become without outflows, which is the touch of the nature of extreme pliancy and the body's consciousness that focuses on it. Those touch and body consciousness will also become without outflows. Why? If one says that a small part of the limb is with outflows and a small part is without outflows, that is not possible, so it is said. If one thinks this way, the extreme pliancy of the body is said to be a limb of perfect enlightenment, because one wants to say this. The extreme pliancy of the body is a limb of perfect enlightenment, manifest realization and complete perfect enlightenment, and entering into peace, and the extreme pliancy of the mind is a limb of perfect enlightenment, manifest realization and complete perfect enlightenment, and entering into peace, because this appears. Because it becomes a limb of enlightenment itself, touch and body consciousness are considered to be without outflows. If it is said that it is because it corresponds to the limb of enlightenment, then if one says this, if one says this, because the extreme pliancy of the body corresponds to the limb of enlightenment, therefore it is called a limb of enlightenment, but it is not a limb of enlightenment, if one answers in this way.

It is the same. If it is said that "defiled dharmas" arise extensively, if asked what are the defiled dharmas? As many eyes as there are, as many forms as there are, as many other eye consciousnesses as there are, as many bodies as there are, as many touches as there are, as many body consciousnesses as there are, if it is thought that this contradicts what appears in the sutra, that is not the case. Because it is spoken from the perspective of considering other than touch and body consciousness, therefore it is spoken from the perspective of considering touches other than that of great diligence, and body consciousnesses other than that body consciousness. If it is said that "undefiled" arises extensively, it is undefiled. When distinguishing and establishing the undefiled, wouldn't a part of the branch be defiled and a part of the branch become undefiled? If it is thought that touch and body consciousness are defiled, and others are undefiled, therefore there would be a fault. Here it is said that because it is not simultaneous, what fault is there? When all the branches of the undefiled arise, the defiled will not all arise, and when all the defiled arise, the undefiled will not all arise, so there is no fault. If it is said that because pleasure and joy do not meet, because bodily pleasure and mental joy do not meet and are not simultaneous, therefore the first dhyana will not become five branches, if you think so, there is no fault. Why? Because it shows existence, just like investigation and analysis. Just as the first dhyana is called having investigation and analysis, and investigation and analysis appear in different ways, pleasure and joy are also the same. Because it shows existence, there is no fault. If it is said that this needs to be established, if it is said that the appearance of investigation and analysis in different ways needs to be established, the answer is, it needs to be established. If asked why, the answer is, because investigation and analysis are contradictory.
