The so-called "collection" refers to manifesting external environments that did not exist before. Complete transformation refers to changing stones and the like into objects like gold. Blessing refers to making them abide for a long time. The perfection of power in bestowing life and blessings is due to the perfection of power in giving life and blessings. The so-called "obscuration" and "extensive manifestation" refer to going after obscuration, going to the sky, and quickly going to extremely distant places. Making many enter into the small means that you make many, such as elephants, enter into the small, that is, going to the sky and extremely distant places after obscuration, and making many enter into the small. Connect these with "perfection of power." The spontaneous arising of wondrous phenomena, various forms, and many forms, connect these with "perfection of power." When the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, pass away, high and low become equal, the high places seen become low, and the low places seen become high. The blind will gain eyes, the deaf will gain ears, and the mad will gain memory, which is the nature of Dharma, and all of this should be understood as it is said in the sutras. The so-called "perfection of marks" refers to the marks of a great man, such as the white hair mark and the crown, the thirty-two perfections. The so-called "perfection of minor marks" refers to the eighty minor marks, such as round fingers and nails like the color of red copper. The perfection of strength refers to the strength of the son of non-greed. Because this relic is as hard as a diamond, the relic is diamond-hard. The nature of the relic being as hard as a diamond, because it is perfect in qualities, the relic being as hard as a diamond is itself the perfection of qualities. Therefore, these are the overall summaries of the great nature of the Buddhas, and any holy person who can generate great joy, whoever it may be, all those who praise, are praising, and will praise the Buddhas, the Bhagavat.

It is only because of these three perfect and excellent qualities. Because there are countless eons in this, so the life span is countless eons. If the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, bless it, then they will know and speak of all these great self-natures, because its infinite differences are very many. For the time being, what is said to appear extensively is: virtues and wisdoms, powers and benefits, this is the classification. Because it is infinite and also wonderful, it is gathered as a common basis. They themselves are great jewels, the Tathagatas are the source of them. However, because childish ordinary people lack their own merits, they become speculative, their faith is destroyed, their joy is destroyed, they do not show respect to the Buddha, and they do not have faith, this is the summary. What is called merely through faith is the summary of not understanding. What is called not yet ripened is the thought that it will not surpass those that are certain to ripen. Because it exists among the gods, it is divine. What is called fruit not being empty, being satisfactory, being supreme, being swift, and having a good end, among which, fruit not being empty is because the fruit is certain to exist. Fruit being satisfactory is because the fruit is the realm of the gods. Fruit being supreme is because the fruit is numerous. Fruit being swift is because the fruit will be experienced in visible dharma and so on. Fruit having a good end is because the fruit is nirvana, therefore, the Tathagata possesses them, so it is called the unsurpassed field of merit. What is called action is the benefit of offerings and so on. What is called appropriately is as much as possible, the virtues of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, without afflictions, and some such as wish-knowing are common with the Shravakas. Some such as supernormal powers and meditation and formlessness are common with ordinary people.

English

The term "etc." encompasses emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, and so on. The statement "No one will develop attachment, hatred, or pride by fixating on it" is because it completely abandons seeing oneself, etc. Just as when one has not arisen from samadhi, upon seeing oneself, may attachment to this not arise! May hatred for this not arise! Pride in this! Carelessness about this! Having realized it in this way, one also conforms accordingly after arising from that samadhi. This is a special method for guarding the minds of others. It is not the case that merely by the arising of a samadhi free from afflictions, the afflictions of others will not arise; this should be understood as the meaning. "Because it does not cause affliction" is synonymous with "because it will not become affliction." The fourth dhyana is the best among the easy paths. Freedom from affliction is only its own level, not another level. "Cannot be completely abandoned" is because complete degeneration is possible. Being connected with the four afflictions refers to those that are to be abandoned by cultivating attachment, etc. The absence of the four afflictions refers to those that are to be abandoned by universally seeing the path; because universal conduct is directed towards all realms of oneself, and also directed towards the continuum of others, it cannot be completely abandoned. "All its objects are" means that because it is directed towards everything, it is all objects. Or, because all its objects are, it is all objects, not just directed towards afflictions like freedom from afflictions. What then? It is also directed towards form, etc.; this is its synonym. The Vaibhashikas say that the reason for saying this is to show that according to the views of other schools, they also know the formless, thinking that there is nothing that is not within the realm of the Buddhas. Knowing through aspiration, therefore, one does not directly know the formless. Why? Because in this way, knowing through aspiration is the level of the fourth dhyana, which is the object of one's own level and the lower levels.
