By doing this, it will be beneficial and pleasant for you," thus teaching the Dharma. Those Shravakas listen to it, give ear to it, pay attention with all their minds, practice the Dharma in accordance with the Dharma, and do not contradict the teachings of the Teacher. In this way, the Tathagata will not be pleased, will not be happy, and will not be delighted. Therefore, the Tathagata abides in mindfulness and awareness, remaining neutral. This is what the noble ones rely on. When the noble ones rely on these, it is the first mindfulness that should be shown to the Sangha. Furthermore, Bhikkhus, here the Teacher teaches with compassion, as before. Those Shravakas do not listen to it, do not give ear to it, do not pay attention with all their minds, do not practice the Dharma in accordance with the Dharma, and contradict the teachings of the Teacher. In this way, the Tathagata will not be distressed, will not be displeased, will not be angry, and will not be unhappy. Therefore, the Tathagata abides in mindfulness and awareness, remaining neutral. This is what the noble ones rely on. When the noble ones rely on these, it is the second mindfulness that should be shown to the Sangha. Furthermore, Bhikkhus, here the Teacher teaches with compassion, as before. Some Shravakas listen to it and do not contradict the teachings of the Teacher, while others do not listen to it and contradict the teachings of the Teacher. In this way, the Tathagata will neither be pleased, nor happy, nor delighted, nor distressed, nor displeased, nor angry, nor unhappy. Therefore, the Tathagata abides in mindfulness and awareness, remaining neutral. This is what the noble ones rely on. When the noble ones rely on these, it is the third mindfulness that should be shown to the Sangha. Thus it is said in the Sutra. Mindfulness and wisdom are shown to be the nature of both, because it is said in the Sutra, "in mindfulness and awareness."

Also correct. When does the term "Shravaka" appear extensively? When a Shravaka has abandoned afflictions and universally rejoices in disciples who listen respectfully, disciples who do not listen respectfully, and both; subsequently, attachment arises, or it is entirely torment, meaning that hatred does not arise. Why are these said to be the Buddha's unique dharmas, not common ones? Because they are abandoned together with their habitual tendencies. That is to say, universal joy and so on are abandoned together with their habitual tendencies. What is a habitual tendency? Among Shravakas, whichever one previously employed whichever affliction, the cause of the transformation of the physical and verbal movements made by that, that is, the difference in energy existing in the mind, is called a habitual tendency. The venerable Armored Infinity says that a habitual tendency is an unspecified difference in the mind. The teacher also says extensively, whose are the Shravakas? The Shravakas belong to the Buddha, the Bhagavan, not to the Shravakas themselves. Why? Because all Shravakas have renounced for the sake of the Buddha. Regarding those two, listening respectfully and not listening respectfully, that is, for those Shravakas who listen respectfully and do not listen respectfully, and both listen and possess listening, only then will universal joy and complete torment not arise; this non-arising is rare and wonderful, thus it is established, and not for other Shravakas, this is the concluding statement. If it is not like that, speaking extensively, if it is not the nature of understanding conventional truth, but like compassion, becomes the nature of being without hatred, then it will also not accomplish being directed towards all sentient beings, that is, it will not accomplish being directed towards sentient beings of the three realms, this is the concluding statement. For example, compassion is not directed towards the three realms. Then what is it directed towards? Because it is directed towards suffering sentient beings. It is directed towards sentient beings who act in the desire realm. It is thought that this will also be the same as that. Like compassion, it will also not accomplish having the aspect of the three sufferings, thus it is connected. Just as compassion is only the aspect of the suffering of suffering.
