In the middle of the ground, the noble being arises from that path and manifests, obtaining a more excellent mind-reading than the previous mind-reading. Due to the difference in continuity, mind-reading is considered special. Both those with desire and those without desire can be obtained on the path of liberation. On the path of application, both of them, that is, both those with desire and those without desire, can also obtain conventional wisdom. Why argue about the path of liberation? Some say that because it is similar to the path of seeing, it can be obtained like something that arises after the path of seeing. Others say that there is neither realization nor is it like the path of seeing. They argue in this way. Six wisdoms are obtained, as before, namely, Dharma wisdom, category wisdom, suffering wisdom, origin wisdom, cessation wisdom, and path wisdom. It is not conventional wisdom, because it is similar to the path of seeing. Here, what is similar to the path of seeing? Obtaining the fruit. Just as the path of seeing obtains the fruit of stream-enterer, once-returner, or non-returner, it also obtains the fruit of stream-enterer, etc., by subduing the faculties of the learner through the uninterrupted path, which are conditioned phenomena held by sharp faculties. In the path of seeing, conventional wisdom cannot be obtained in the stage of the uninterrupted path, just as it is here. Therefore, because it is similar to the path of seeing, conventional wisdom cannot be obtained on the uninterrupted path. Similarly, six wisdoms are obtained, namely, Dharma wisdom, category wisdom, suffering wisdom, origin wisdom, cessation wisdom, and path wisdom. Here, too, because it is not the antidote to the peak of existence, conventional wisdom cannot be obtained. Since all uninterrupted paths are blocked, there is also no mind-reading. What is the remainder? If explained in detail, how is the ninth path of liberation from desire considered the remainder? Because its predecessor is with desire. Seven are obtained on the path of cultivation.

Because it says, "Ob Po." The paths of liberation from desire, supernormal powers, and alternating meditation from the seven grounds are also remaining. Because it says, "The unobstructed paths of surpassing supernormal powers, attaining immovability, and alternating meditation from the seven grounds." Similarly, the last path of liberation for one who transforms into immovability is said to attain ten, so the eight paths of liberation are also remaining. All the practices and special paths of the non-returner who is free from desire are also remaining, because their attainment is not mentioned. "The learner's is like that" means that the remaining one spoken of attains eight. Furthermore, if such a distinction is not made, how can the distinction be understood? The non-learner undoubtedly possesses the attainment of nine or ten knowledges. For that very reason, the non-learner is said to have supernormal powers, etc. The word "etc." includes alternating meditation and dhyana, etc. If it is the actualization of supernormal powers, the practice of alternating meditation, liberation, and the special path, if it is a liberation by time, then one attains nine knowledges, excluding the knowledge of non-arising. If it is one with the nature of immovability, then adding that one, one attains ten. "One attains eight or nine" means that the liberation by time attains eight, and one with the nature of immovability attains nine, excluding the knowledge of others' minds, because their unobstructed paths are blocked. The two paths of liberation of supernormal powers refer to the paths of liberation of the supernormal powers of the divine ear and the divine eye. Because it says, "The supernormal powers of the eye and ear are not predicted," therefore their paths of liberation are also not predicted, and there is no future attainment for a dharma that is not predicted. An ordinary being is said to be free from desire in the desire realm and the three dhyanas. The fourth dhyana is not mentioned, because it is like this: freedom from desire in the fourth dhyana.
