Therefore, the fifth ground is attained. If one is on the third dhyana ground, one attains the sixth ground from the third dhyana to the desire realm. If one is on the fourth dhyana ground, one attains the seventh ground from the fourth dhyana ground to the desire realm. After dividing by counting one, the remainder is all four mindfulnesses, thus it is established. Saying "The cessation is only the last, and the last is only the cessation," in order to clearly grasp both, the remainder is the nature of the four mindfulnesses, thus it will be established. Suffering is the nature of the body and so on, therefore, when suffering is directly realized, the conventional wisdom that is attained is all four mindfulnesses. Similarly, it should be said for the origin as well. Saying "It is only the aspect of that truth," when suffering is directly realized, the conventional wisdom that is attained has the aspects of impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness respectively. Similarly, it should be said for the origin and cessation as well. Saying "Its object is also that truth," like this, the aspect is because it is focused on that. Saying "It arises from application," therefore it is not attained by birth. Saying "It is the nature of the four and five aggregates," it is the nature of the formless four aggregates that follow the desire realm, that is, the nature of the aggregates of feeling, perception, mental formation, and consciousness, this is a summary statement. The higher ground is the nature of the five aggregates, because there is the form aggregate which is the nature of meditative absorption. Saying "Two knowledges arise now," are subsequent knowledge and path knowledge, because subsequent knowledge on the path is the nature of both. Saying "There are six in the future," are knowledge of the Dharma and so on. Conventional wisdom is not attained, because what has already been obtained before will not be obtained, it will be explained in this way. Other minds' knowledge is also not attained, because one is free from desire. Those above it with attachment, attain seven on the path of cultivation.

From abandoning one aspect to abandoning eight aspects, as long as one has not separated from desire, and as long as the ninth aspect has been abandoned, during this time, upon obtaining the path of non-interruption, the path of liberation, and the path of distinction, one obtains seven knowledges, namely, one obtains the knowledge of Dharma, etc., except for the knowledge of others' minds. If the path of meditation is a worldly one, possessing aspects such as tranquility and coarseness, then it arises like conventional knowledge. The so-called "from the four knowledges" refers to any Dharma knowledge among suffering, origin, cessation, and path. Since it is not the antidote to the desire realm, it is not the subsequent knowledges. Chapter Fifty-Five. The so-called five supernormal knowledges refer to supernormal knowledges excluding the exhaustion of outflows. The so-called four subsequent knowledges refer to the subsequent knowledges in suffering, origin, cessation, and path. The so-called two Dharma knowledges refer to the object of cessation and path, because they are suitable to be the antidote to the three realms. Conventional knowledge is not obtained, because it is not the antidote to the peak of existence. The so-called separation from desire from the seven grounds, even if obtained through the supramundane path, conventional knowledge can be obtained, because the antidote to that aspect of affliction is not only the supramundane path, but also conventional knowledge, so there, such conventional knowledge can also be obtained. When realizing the immovable, since there is no such antidote aspect of conventional knowledge, therefore it is not obtained. The so-called there is the seventh knowledge of exhaustion, because one abides in the path of non-interruption, so there one can obtain the knowledge of exhaustion, but not the knowledge of non-arising, because abiding in the path of non-interruption is not of the nature of immovability. One with the nature of immovability can also obtain the knowledge of non-arising. From the peak of existence, the eight paths of liberation from desire, only seven knowledges are obtained. If one asks how the knowledge of others' minds is obtained, the knowledge of others' minds is blocked on the path of non-interruption, but not on the path of liberation, therefore from abandoning one aspect to abandoning eight aspects.
