is a synonym for "having the cause of desire." Here, desire is another name for craving. The phrase "arising from desire" means to truly accomplish from desire. The term "having the kind of desire" is a synonym for "having the condition of desire." The sound of "completely arising" ultimately only serves to dispel, which is what the Sautrāntikas say, with a word arising from the heart, thinking that one should follow the view of the Sutras. What is the difference between these synonyms or collections of desires: cause, arising, condition, and completely arising? The thought of "I" refers to desire for the body without distinction, which means without distinguishing the object, grasping the five aggregates of appropriation as a whole without difference as "I," or distinguishing them in other ways, focusing on the physical things that appear now, or pursuing the meaning of the body by focusing on the body of the past, present, and future, this is desire for the body, the first kind. The thought of "may it become" refers to without distinction, merely pursuing existence again, not pursuing the meaning of a special essence, this is the second kind. The thought of "may it become like this" refers to the thought of "may it become like this form," which is a special desire for existence again, the third kind. The fourth kind is the desire for the bondage of connecting continuity, because connecting continuity itself is bondage, so connecting continuity is bondage, the fourth kind is desire for and pursuit of that. Or, desire for the manifestation of karma, this is the fourth case, or, desire for the manifestation of karma. How does one desire it? For example, giving such and such things as alms. Or, how are desires expressed in terms of root and other words? To explain this, it is explained in detail, "For it, the first": because it is the first cause or the initial cause, it is the initial cause. Therefore, it has the root of desire, the word root means cause. The phrase "like the seed of a fruit" is like the first cause of a fruit, which is distant.
