To do is to focus. When the mind is depressed, one should not focus on extreme pliancy, etc., nor is it the time to focus and devote oneself. When the mind is agitated, it is not the time to focus on things like discriminating the Dharma. That is the meaning to be expressed. But it is not that one should not manifest extreme pliancy etc. at that time, but one should manifest things like discriminating the Dharma, or that one should manifest things like discriminating the Dharma, but not extreme pliancy etc. I do not think it is like this kind of obvious practice. From this, the detailed explanation of "a mind that is too lazy" arises, that is, if laziness is excessive and dominant, and agitation is secondary, then it is depression; if agitation is excessive and dominant, and laziness is secondary, then it is agitation. Because there is a difference between these two, it does not contradict the separate descriptions in the sutras. Chapter 54. These two can also exist together in one collection, so it can be said that the same mind is both depressed and agitated. Depression is afflicted because it is associated with laziness. Agitation is afflicted because it is associated with agitation. The Acharya said that what is said from "having thoughts" to "the meaning of the sutra is that a mind that is too lazy is called depression, and a mind that is too agitated is called agitation" is not the case. Because the sutra elaborates on "when the mind is depressed and suspects depression," but does not specifically distinguish between "too lazy" or "too agitated." All minds that are associated with desire are with desire, how is this said? In this regard, the mind that is associated with desire is the desire of both. Apart from that, those who are associated with the person, because they are associated with the corresponding desire, are with desire. Because the sutra says, "Therefore, here it should be considered as a mind associated with desire." Then, will the unpolluted mind of the learner also become with desire? This is because there is a remainder of desire in the continuum of the learner.

Because of having 'ga' etc. If it is said, 'It is the object of desire,' then, what is the object of desire? If it is thought that having desire is being associated with desire, then, the mind of an Arhat being associated with defilements is also because it is the object of others' desire, therefore, having desire, then, others' consciousness, or because of knowing others' minds, it will be accepted as being associated with desire. However, if it is thought that it is not the object of desire, then, for that reason, or how could that be associated with defilements? If it is said, 'Because it is the object of common afflictions,' then, if it is thought that because it is a common affliction, namely the object of views, doubt, and ignorance, therefore it is associated with defilements, then, even so, the mind of an Arhat being associated with defilements, because it is the object of delusion, will be considered as being associated with delusion. Because delusion is also a common affliction, the mind of the Arhat himself will also become the object of others' delusion. Knowing others' minds is also not focused on attainment, because knowing others' minds is considered to be focused on mind and mental factors, therefore, it cannot be considered that because of having the attainment of desire, being inherently possessed of desire, it is associated with desire. Regarding the desire that focuses on that mind, it is also not focused on the object. Among them, 'that' refers to the mind of others, that which is to be grasped by knowing others' minds, that is expressed by the word 'that'. Focusing on that mind is the desire that focuses on that mind. Because knowing others' minds focuses on this, there is desire that focuses on that mind, therefore, that is the object of the desire that focuses on that mind. Like this, knowing others' minds is also not focused on such desire, because it is very obscure. Because knowing others' minds is an object of knowledge one by one, therefore knowing others' minds does not cling to the object of that mind, because it does not rely on its aspects and object, because there is a saying that 'the mind is attached'.
