It is said to be like sesame oil and ghee. The phrase "because it hinders birth" means that the attainment of afflictions is a hindrance because the mind of a non-learner hinders birth. Now, the phrase "that which will not arise" refers to the future itself of the non-learner, which will not arise immediately following like a vajra. The phrase "worldly one" refers to that which exists only in the continuum of the non-learner. The phrase "only that which is certain to be born is taught" means that it is said in the treatise, "Whatever in the future is directed towards birth, only that will be liberated." It is thought that this is said because it is easy to examine. The phrase "from the very obscuration of birth" means from that very attainment of affliction, and here the reason should also be stated as "because that hinders birth." If it is admitted that the worldly one existing in the continuum of the non-learner will be liberated, then why is it not admitted that the worldly one of the learner will also be quickly liberated? Therefore, it is said, "That is not the same as that," etc. The worldly one of the learner is co-emergent with the attainment of affliction, but the worldly one of the non-learner is not like that, so it is not the same. The phrase "that which will cease" means that which is directed towards cessation. The phrase "its obscuration" refers to the obscuration of the mind of the non-learner. In the treatise or in this itself, it says, "Afflictions destroyed, unconditioned." Whatever is said to be liberation is unconditioned, and what are the three realms that arise? If asked from where do they arise, they arise from the sutra or treatise. "Desire completely exhausted, free from desire." It is said that this is said because it is intended to be specifically stated. If it is not intended to be specifically stated, then whatever is free from desire can also be called abandonment, and can also be called cessation, etc. The phrase "basis" refers to forms, etc., which are tainted. The phrase "four possibilities" means that there are those who will become disgusted but will not become free from desire, and there are those who will become free from desire but will not become disgusted, two

There are also those that become aversion, and there are also those that do not become aversion, which is what is meant. By means of the forbearance and knowledge of the cause of suffering, the so-called "aversion" refers to the aversion that arises from the cause of things. By what is abandoned, one will be freed from all desires. This refers to the freedom from desire that arises from the cause of abandonment. If that is the case, then the four possibilities are established, which means that if the causes of aversion and freedom from desire are completely cut off in this way, then the four possibilities are formed when combined. How is it? Only aversion, this is explained in detail, the forbearance towards suffering and its origin, and the knowledge towards suffering and its origin, are only aversion, because they are focused on the object of aversion. Suffering and its origin are the objects of aversion. One will not be freed from desire, because if one does not abandon afflictions, the meaning of this statement is that there is no factor of abandonment. The cessation on the path of seeing and the forbearance on the path, and the cessation on the path of meditation and the knowledge of the path, are only freedom from desire, because the statement "if one abandons afflictions" appears, so there is a factor of abandonment. One will not become aversion, because one is focused on the object of supreme joy. Nirvana and the path are the objects of supreme joy. If one abandons the previous afflictions, then it is both, which means that the previous forbearance and knowledge towards suffering and its origin will also become aversion and will also be freed from desire, because one is focused on the object of aversion, so one will become aversion. The meaning of the statement "if one abandons afflictions" is that because there is a factor of abandonment, one will be freed from desire. If one does not abandon the subsequent afflictions, then it is neither, which means that the subsequent forbearance and knowledge towards cessation and the path will neither become aversion nor be freed from desire, because one is focused on the object of supreme joy, so one will not become aversion. If one does not abandon afflictions
