Therefore, some say that from the beginning, they are of that kind. What is this between "those who belong to the nature of complete deterioration" and "those who belong to the nature of non-deterioration"? This does not indicate the lineage of those who belong to the nature of complete deterioration, etc. To this, some say that lineage refers to the roots of virtue, and some have the transformation from the nature of complete deterioration to the nature of non-deterioration. Others say that lineage starts from the stage of ordinary beings and is the difference in faculties. The Sutra Master says that lineage is the seed power of the mind, and even in the stage of ordinary beings and learners, if there is a seed cause of the nature of complete deterioration, it is called belonging to the nature of complete deterioration. Similarly, even in the stage of non-learners, if the arising of its seed is found, it is called the nature of complete deterioration, and it is the same up to the nature of non-deterioration. Regarding the detailed explanation of "those who belong to the nature of complete deterioration," if it is only said that "those who belong to the nature of complete deterioration refers to those who have the possibility of complete deterioration," and it is not said that "this does not refer to the dharma of the thought of death, etc.," then all four dharmas of the thought of death, etc., have the possibility of complete deterioration, so any one of them could become a dharma of complete deterioration, and there is no fifth other than them. Therefore, in order to distinguish this fifth from them, it is said, "This does not refer to the dharma of the thought of death, etc." Just by explaining the difference in characteristics of each of the four, the thought of death, etc., which are not of the nature of complete deterioration, it can be known that "the dharma of the thought of death refers to those who have the possibility of the thought of death, but not those who are protected," which does not need to be said, because those who are protected are also the same. If there is no power of the cause of complete deterioration,

If it possesses the power of causes for complete deterioration, it is thought that it will completely deteriorate. Saying 'possessing the power of causes' distinguishes it from what was previously said about those who possess the nature of complete deterioration, because those who possess the nature of complete deterioration will completely deteriorate even if they do not possess the power of causes for complete deterioration. The causes for complete deterioration are as stated in the sutras: An Arhat liberated by time will completely deteriorate due to five causes and five conditions. What are the five? Engaging in the extremes of actions, engaging in speech, engaging in disputes, possessing the practice of wandering for a long time, and being afflicted by prolonged illness. These are called the five causes. 'Even if not protected' distinguishes it from those who possess the nature of protection, because this one will not completely deteriorate even if not protected, while that one will deteriorate even if protected, so that fruit, even if not protected, is destined to abide in that fruit and will not deteriorate from that fruit; and if there is no diligence, that is, if there is no effort, then those destined for realization will not attain or increase, implying that if one makes effort, one will become destined for realization. Thus, this is also distinguished from those destined for realization, because even without diligence, they are destined for realization. 'The first two,' in detail, those who possess the nature of complete deterioration lack continuous practice and respectful practice. Thinking of death also lacks continuous practice, but especially lacks respectful practice, so these two are different. 'Faculties are dull' distinguishes it from the sixth. The sixth has sharp faculties, and these two have differences caused by faculties, but not by practice. 'If done in that way,' in detail, because there is no certainty in that way, there are six types of Arhats even in the form and formless realms, but it is not the case that there are only six in the desire realm.
