The second is the medium among those with medium faculties. The third is the small among those with great faculties. Among those who attain complete nirvana from birth, the first, those who attain complete nirvana from birth are the great among those with medium faculties. Those who attain complete nirvana with manifest activity are the medium among those with medium faculties. Those who attain complete nirvana without manifest activity are the small among those with medium faculties. Among those who transfer upwards, those who leap upwards are the great among those with small faculties. Those who leap upwards halfway are the medium among those with small faculties. Those who die and transfer in all places are the small among those with small faculties. So, what are the seven types of noble beings' conduct as shown in the sutras? The statement "Monks, I will teach you the seven types of noble beings' conduct, and also the complete nirvana without clinging" appears. All those sutras have already been written in that section called the Conduct Sutra, so I will not write them again. That sutra shows the seven types of noble beings' conduct, namely three who attain complete nirvana in the intermediate state, and three who attain complete nirvana after birth, making six types of conduct. The seventh is the conduct of transferring upwards. The phrase "because it is not shown separately" means that the upward transfer, such as leaping, is not shown separately, which is a summary statement. What is shown in the sutra depends on the thoughts of those to be tamed. The phrase "other conduct of learners is not" means that the conduct of stream-enterers and once-returners is not, which is a summary statement. Conduct, birth, and future lives are listed as different categories in the sutra. The term "those" refers to non-returners, because they do not commit killing and so forth, therefore they engage in sacred actions, and because they do not commit non-chaste conduct and so forth, therefore they do not engage in non-sacred actions. If non-chaste conduct and so forth are done with an unwholesome intention, then those who are free from desire, because they have abandoned unwholesomeness, only engage in sacred actions and do not engage in non-sacred actions. Again, the term "no return" refers to those who, wherever they are born, either below or there permanently.

"Non-returning" is its synonym. As it is said, "This is not found elsewhere," which refers only to the noble ones and not to the non-noble ones. Also, those who do not return are stream-enterers, because they do not return once. And "also in other places" refers to stream-enterers and once-returners. "Having distinctions" means arising from distinctions, so it is called "having distinctions," which is a synonym for "existing in some way." For example, it is mentioned, "because they have obtained the vow to never commit the five evils," that is, not committing the characteristics of the five evils of killing, not taking what is not given, sexual misconduct, lying, and drinking alcohol. Not doing is the vow, because it is obtained. Noble ones will not engage in these five evils in other lifetimes either. Mentioning "the vow of not doing" is because the vow that is truly taken is not inviolable. "Mostly" refers to having completely abandoned all non-virtues to be abandoned by seeing, and having abandoned some behaviors in the desire realm by practicing accordingly. The detailed explanation of "for whom" is, for whom it exists without distinction, just like stream-enterers and once-returners, it is not the case that they are noble ones in other ways. So what is it? Because they have obtained the vow to never commit all evils, because they have abandoned all non-virtues to be abandoned by seeing, and because they have abandoned all nine behaviors in the desire realm to be abandoned by cultivation, therefore, in this sutra, the "seven destinations of noble beings" refers to the case of noble non-returners. Therefore, it is incorrect that others are also noble beings with distinctions. Why do those who have reached the end of their lifespan among the non-returners also have distinctions such as intermediate nirvana? Those who have reached the end of their lifespan among the non-returners are those who have obtained the fruit of stream-entry or once-returning in the first life, and then in the second life
