Just as one has seen them before, so one should meditate on them later. This is the term for the path of meditation. As for 'in order to gain power over the rest,' gaining power means obtaining the power to see all arising etc. manifest without effort, therefore. One should examine whether there are interruptions in between, because it is thought that if there are interruptions in order to gain power over the rest, it will become a fault. If analyzed in both ways, it also contradicts many sutras. As for how it contradicts them, one should hear it from the scriptures. Because it says, 'If one sees one, the rest are the Abhisamaya of action,' it is said that because it is said that if one sees suffering, then its Abhisamaya is three. Arising etc. are the Abhisamaya of action, because one must abandon, manifest, and meditate. Because there is such a statement, we also acknowledge it, so there is no fault. Someone says, if it is acknowledged that it is such an Abhisamaya, then it contradicts the sutra which says that the truths are realized sequentially. Therefore, the sutra speaks in detail about the Abhisamaya of the path of seeing. There are three sutras with examples as sources, which appear in the Samyuktagama Sutra. How so? Anathapindika asked: Venerable, are the four noble truths realized gradually, or is one realized? Householder, the four noble truths are realized gradually, there is no realization of one. Householder, if someone says this: 'I have not realized the noble truth of suffering, I will realize the noble truth of the origin,' and so on, up to 'I have not realized the noble truth of the cessation of suffering, I will realize the noble truth of the path to the cessation of suffering,' one should say to him, 'Do not say such a thing.' Why is that? Without realizing the noble truth of suffering,

From "that which is realized, is impossible and has no opportunity" to "this is impossible," as before. Up to "this is possible," also as before. Householder, for example, someone says this: "I will not place the pillar on the foundation of a storied house or a large storied house, but I will place it on the wall. I will not place it on the wall, but I will place it on the rafters. I will not place it on the rafters, but I will place it on the eaves." If he says this, he should be told not to say this. Forty-seventh fascicle. Why is that? From "storied house or" to "impossible and has no opportunity," as before. From "having placed the pillar on the foundation, then placing the pillar on the wall" to "having placed the pillar on the rafters, then placing it on the eaves," whatever is between "this is possible," as before. Householder, similarly, without seeing the truth of suffering, one will see the truth of the origin, whatever is between "this is impossible" to the extensive explanation, as before. Then, a certain monk asked: Venerable, how is it? Are the four noble truths realized successively, or is it a single realization? The Blessed One replied: Monk, the four truths are... etc., as before. Monk, for example, someone says this: "Without climbing the lowest step of a four-step staircase, I will climb the second step. Without climbing the second step, I will climb the third. Without climbing the third, I will climb the fourth." If he says this, he should be told not to say this. Why is that? On a four-step staircase, without climbing the lowest step, one climbs the second step, and similarly, without climbing the third, up to climbing the fourth, this is impossible and has no opportunity. Similarly, in this case also, without seeing the truth of suffering, one will see the truth of the origin, whatever is "this is impossible," etc., will occur. Similarly, the venerable Ānanda asked: Venerable, how is it? Are the four noble truths realized successively, or is it a single realization?
