Since it has already been said, it will not be repeated. The example given here is the antidote that lasts a long time. "Those with discriminating wisdom," this phrase is composed to ensure that it exists only in the grounds with discrimination. Because words are spoken after investigation and analysis, the activities of body and speech are preceded by thought and analysis. "There is no obscuration in desire either," this statement is to show that not only is it absent in the grounds without analysis, but it also states that it exists only in the Brahma realm. "Beyond that," this phrase refers to beyond the Brahma realm. "Having external great elements as the cause," refers to the origin of sounds such as wind. This statement is made to emphasize the negation of representative sound, but it is not the case that only those with external great elements as the cause exist, because in the second dhyana and so on, there may also be sounds of hands and so on. If it is not like this, it will contradict the scriptures. For example, the scriptures say: "What is it that possesses the realm of sound?" The answer is: "It operates in the desire and form realms." "What does not possess it?" The answer is: "It operates in the formless realm." Because "those belonging to the self-continuum of attainment and non-attainment" appear, it is not permissible to be connected with the external that is not counted as sentient beings. In order to avoid this fault, it is said "in other places," meaning that there is also representation in the second dhyana and so on. If asked, "What kind is it?" It refers to the ground of the first dhyana. This is only the assertion of the Vaibhashika school, not the assertion of other schools. Because in the Tattvasiddhi Shastra it says: "In the second dhyana and so on, there are consciousnesses of body, eye, and ear, which give rise to representation. Whatever belongs to the first dhyana is unspecified and not afflicted." Therefore, other schools consider it to be the ground of the second dhyana and so on. Then, is it unspecified or specified? Therefore, it is said that "unobscured and unspecified representation exists, it is neither virtuous nor afflicted," meaning, when will those who dwell there obscure each other when they speak to each other, and so on?

Obscured but unindicated manifestations of consciousness arise. Volume Thirty-one. Why is it said that there is neither virtue nor affliction? Because "being born in those places" etc. has been explained in detail. Being born in the second dhyana etc. is the consciousness of the lower realm, that is, any consciousness that can arouse manifestations of virtue or affliction, just like that, it does not manifest virtue and affliction. Why? Because "inferior and already abandoned" etc. has been explained. The virtue of the lower realm does not manifest because it is inferior and abandoned, and it is not an affliction either, thus implying that the unindicated consciousness of the lower realm, through what does it arouse it, that is, manifest it? Therefore, it is said that the manifestation of consciousness of the lower realm is aroused by the consciousness of the lower realm. The Vaibhashikas do not think so, because the manifestation of consciousness is aroused by the consciousness of the first dhyana, so it is only the first dhyana. Therefore, it is said that only the former is mentioned. Moreover, it is not in the desire realm, that is, the obscured but unindicated consciousness that is abandoned through cultivation, is not in the desire realm either, because they believe that in the desire realm there is only the obscured but unindicated consciousness that is associated with the view of the perishable collection and the view of clinging to extremes. Because it is looking inward, it does not arouse the manifestation of consciousness either. "Self-nature" refers to oneself. "Because of extreme bliss" means that there are no things associated with discomfort. Therefore, the virtue that is in accordance with self-nature and arouses is extreme bliss, that is what is said. Because there is no virtue in those things that are not in accordance, it is said that because consciousness etc. that are not in accordance with the roots of virtue etc. have no virtue, so those that are in accordance with them are established as virtue. Those dharmas that are not in accordance with the roots of virtue etc.,
