It is that. (Who said it?) It was said by the Blessed One. For example, in the sutra it says: "By how much, O monk, does one become a stream-enterer? Great Name, for example, a noble disciple understands as it really is that 'This is the noble truth of suffering,' understands as it really is that 'This is the origin of suffering,' understands as it really is that 'This is the cessation of suffering,' understands as it really is that 'This is the noble truth of the path leading to the cessation of suffering.' These are the three fetters, namely, the view of the aggregates, the adherence to ethical conduct and vows, and doubt, which are also completely abandoned and completely known. By abandoning those three fetters, he becomes a stream-enterer, one who is not subject to falling, one who is destined for complete enlightenment, and if there is any delay, he is a seven-times-at-most, that is, after circling and going seven times among gods and humans, he will make an end of suffering." Thus it is said, this is the concluding statement that must be stated in its entirety. The statement that the afflictions are of three types is here made with regard to what is to be abandoned by seeing. The view of the aggregates and the view of holding to extremes are of one type, because they are to be abandoned by merely seeing suffering. The adherence to ethical conduct and vows is of two types. Doubt, wrong views, and the holding of views as supreme are of four types. Among them, the gateway to the one type is the view of the aggregates, therefore, by mentioning the view of the aggregates, the view of holding to extremes is also included. The gateway to the four types is doubt, and by mentioning it, wrong views and the holding of views as supreme are also included. The adherence to ethical conduct and vows is only explicitly mentioned. It can be said that whatever defilements, such as desire, are to be abandoned by seeing are also only included because they are focused on those (views). The view of holding to extremes is included in the view of the aggregates because it holds to the extreme of the self as permanent or impermanent. The holding of views as supreme is included in the adherence to ethical conduct and vows.

The term "ga" refers to holding onto that which one believes can purify as the most supreme. Wrong view is said to be pervaded by doubt, which is doubt itself. Wrong view arises from the gate of hearing and thinking, leading to wrong certainty. Therefore, since it is established by summarizing the root, one should understand that holding to extreme views, etc., is also the nature of what is being said. Others say, referring to the teacher himself. What is meant by "straying from the path"? It is said to be because of relying on other paths. Because it is said to be "in accordance with the final part of pervasive action," it is implied that there are also those in accordance with other parts, so it is said for this reason. "The five that are in accordance with the higher part," this is said, and it is the unfolding of pervasive action. Through the distinctions of these pervasive actions, etc., it is explained as five aspects. With this connection, after showing pervasive action, it enters the section of showing bondage. Bondage, all desire, is all in terms of type and limit. What is hatred? It is all, but only in terms of type. Ignorance is all in terms of type and limit. In terms of object and association, it is said that, as appropriate, desire will increase for the feeling of happiness that exists in one's own and others' continuums. In terms of object and association itself, hatred will increase for the feeling of suffering. For the feeling that is neither happiness nor suffering, ignorance will increase in terms of its own nature. Do not desire and hatred also increase in the same way for the feeling that is neither happiness nor suffering? Why only mention ignorance? For this reason,

It is thus ascertained by the power of habituation, that is, through the door of correspondence, attachment increases towards the feeling of pleasure that exists in one's own continuum, and hatred towards suffering. For that which is neither suffering nor pleasure, it is ignorance. Forty-third fascicle. Others say that attachment and hatred are not like that, just as attachment increases towards pleasure, hatred is not like that. Furthermore, does hatred also increase towards pleasure? Answer: It increases through the door of focusing on the enemy's pleasure. Just as hatred increases towards suffering, attachment is not like that. Furthermore, does attachment also increase towards suffering? Answer: It increases through the door of focusing on the enemy's suffering. Furthermore, it is said that it is determined by focusing on what exists in one's own continuum, that is, in one way, attachment increases by focusing on the pleasure that exists in one's own continuum, or through the door of correspondence, but not on the enemy's pleasure that exists in another's continuum. Similarly, anger increases by focusing on the suffering that exists in one's own continuum, or through the door of correspondence, but not on the enemy's suffering that exists in another's continuum. Thus, it is determined by focusing on what exists in one's own continuum, that is, for the feeling of pleasure, attachment increases through the doors of the object and correspondence, and for suffering, hatred increases. Because the mind is disturbed, that is, because the mind is defiled by afflictions. Afflicted other than affliction, mind-born, that is, the term for other than the words of affliction. Only near afflictions, that is, these have the nature close to afflictions, or have what is close to afflictions, therefore they are near afflictions, and these are only born from the mind, and not those that are not in accordance with the mind. Which of these also arise from subtle bases? That is, the parts of the scriptures, which arise from subtle bases, are not only contemplation and so on, it is thought in this way.
