Possessing intelligence. What is meant by "extensive explanation"? It refers to the aspect of "combination." Therefore, it is said that the combination of desire realm, together with ignorance, consists solely of thirty-four elements, which are the near-obtaining of desire realm. Ignorance should be included within the near-obtaining of desire and the near-obtaining of self-assertion, just as it is in its own nature. In order to differentiate the two views, there are four: the near-obtaining of desire, the near-obtaining of views, the near-obtaining of ethics and asceticism, and the near-obtaining of self-assertion. The statement "having extracted ethics and asceticism from the combination of views" means that the combination of views, due to the distinction of realms, consists of thirty-six elements. When the six that are held as supreme, namely ethics and asceticism, are removed, then the near-obtaining of views consists of thirty elements. The near-obtaining of ethics and asceticism consists of six elements: two in the desire realm, and similarly, two each in the form and formless realms. The statement "having become an enemy of the path" means that because the Samkhya school's yoga and knowledge, etc., regard liberation as attainable, therefore the near-obtaining of ethics and asceticism becomes an enemy of the path. The statement "because it deceives both sides," extensively explained, means that it deceives both the householder and the renunciate sides. The phrase "not eating food, etc." includes entering water and fire, not speaking, acting as a hero, etc. Not eating food, etc., and completely abandoning agreeable objects are included within ethics and asceticism. Ignorance, not grasping, therefore mixed. This means that ignorance alone does not cause near-obtaining. Why? Because it does not manifest due to the characteristic of not knowing. It is said to be mixed, meaning that it is thought that it is through the power related to other afflictions that near-obtaining occurs. The word "says" in "it says" is used to indicate the tenets of other schools. Therefore, one's own tenets, the Blessed One in the sutras...

It is said extensively as above. What does it mean to say that "the combination of views is also said to be the same"? Starting from "What is the combination of views?", broadly speaking, it is to have attachment, desire, and craving for these views, which is the same as what was said before. Other sutras also say that attachment to desire should also be accepted. As it is said in the sutra, "What is acceptance? It is the desire and attachment to this." This is the doctrine of the teacher, that only attachment is combination and acceptance here, and other defilements are not. Therefore, it is said that attachment to desire arises from desire and so on. As for "because they are subtle" and so on, it is said extensively because the subtle ones grow, so it is called "subtle growth," which is established from the perspective of defining the meaning of the word. The so-called "subtle aspect" is a synonym for "subtle entry." Why is the entry subtle? Because it is difficult to understand non-material things. Even without combination, that is, without effort, even when preventing it, it will still appear on people again and again, so it is called "subtle growth." Because it can place beings in samsara, it is a "leak," or from the perspective of placement, because it drips, it is a "leak," which is from the perspective of defining the meaning of the word. From the peak of existence to the Avici hell, from the wounds of the six sources (six sources: eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, mind) it drips, that is, from the peak of existence to the Avici hell, the six sources are like wounds, flowing out from the doors of the six sources such as the eyes like wounds, so they are "leaks." Because it can carry, it is a "river." Because it can adhere, it is a "combination." Because it can grasp, it is "acceptance," which is the assertion of the Vaibhashikas. The word river has the meaning of carrying, it can carry beings to other places or other realms, so it is a "river." It can combine beings to other places or other realms, it can adhere, so it is a "combination." Or it can
