said, then, what difference is there between us and the Shramana Gautama in teaching the Dharma? The Blessed One showed them the establishment from five to ten and from ten to five. The Blessed One also said that anger and the reasons for anger corresponding to it, all the nine roots of suffering are also obstacles to harming the mind. Similarly, joy and the reasons for joy corresponding to it, also with the distinction called "also", there is the establishment from seven to fourteen and from fourteen to seven. Although investigation and effort are not the nature of wisdom, because they are successively the nature of investigation and diligence, the two are not the nature of wisdom. When the path is divided into three aggregates: the aggregate of discipline, the aggregate of concentration, and the aggregate of wisdom, what is the aggregate of wisdom? That is, right view, right thought, right effort, it is said in the exposition of the aggregate of wisdom. Equanimity is the equality of mind, that is, with what the mind naturally achieves and remains equal, that is equanimity, called the equanimity of action. There are three kinds of equanimity: the equanimity of feeling, the equanimity of action, and the immeasurable equanimity. Isn't it said that the differences between these are difficult to know? The differences between mind and mental factors are very subtle, so for the time being it is also difficult to completely determine for the continuums, and so on. What is difficult to know is difficult to know, that is, in one moment of mind, the differences of phenomena such as touch exist without contradiction, and what is difficult to know can also be known, but in one moment of mind, there is effort and no effort, although they are contradictory, they are not contradictory, this is very difficult to know, it is the remaining word called establishment. It has not been seen that in one moment of mind, there are contradictory things such as happiness and suffering. Effort also arises in other aspects, that is, effort also arises in other objects.

Even without effort, other things can happen, so there is no contradiction. "From this, other kinds like this arise" refers to contradictory kinds, such as thinking and analysis. Their definitions are: Thinking and analysis, coarse and subtle. Because the scriptures say that thinking is a coarse mind, and analysis is a subtle mind, it is contradictory for them to exist in the same thing, which will be explained later. "Whatever its state is, it should also be understood here" refers to the idea that these two arise in different ways. "Shame and embarrassment will be explained later" refers to: disrespectful, shameless, without embarrassment. Not listening to advice, not fearing evil consequences. Because it is said in reverse here. "That is the essence of wisdom" refers to the absence of ignorance, which is the nature of wisdom. "Wisdom is multi-grounded" because the scriptures say: wisdom, memory. This is not said to be merely the many grounds of virtue. So what is it? It is also the great ground of virtue, etc. "Non-conflict" refers to what does not cause conflict with others, which is the non-harming of mental factors, the antidote to harming. "The mind is delighted" refers to the delight in doing good deeds, which is diligence. Delight in doing unwholesome deeds is not diligence, because that is the nature of sinking, so it is said to be laziness in the scriptures. As the Blessed One said: For the heretics, their diligence is only laziness. "Ignorance" refers to ignorance, which refers to what will be explained below: other dharmas that are not in accordance with wisdom are called ignorance. "It is the opposing dharma of meditation" refers to the fact that it is not permissible to think that it is merely the absence of meditation. Therefore, the opposing factor of meditation is mentioned, and laziness and so on should be explained in the same way. "Heaviness of body and heaviness of mind" refers to not being the antidote to pliancy.
