Except for these, (others) and those from the eye, etc., up to the tongue (root) all possess. The body faculty and those born in the desire and form realms possess, and so on. 'Those who possess the four happy bodies' refers to combining 'possess' with 'certainly possess,' intending to express the order of quantity, so happiness, etc., are mentioned after that. 'Possessing the faculty of happiness' means that all except ordinary beings born in the fourth dhyana and the formless realm possess the faculty of happiness. Likewise, it is not necessarily the case that they possess (all of these), because the eye, etc., up to the tongue faculty, as well as the formless realm, and also those in the desire realm who have not obtained (these faculties) and those in a state of decline, do not possess (these faculties). The body faculty is not possessed in the formless realm. The male and female faculties are not possessed in the form realm, the formless realm, and the desire realm when they have not been obtained (these faculties) and when they are in a state of decline. The faculty of suffering is not possessed in the form and formless realms. The faculty of joy is not possessed by those born in the third dhyana of ordinary beings. The faculty of displeasure is not possessed in the state of being free from desire in the desire realm. The five faculties, such as faith, are not possessed in the state where the roots of virtue are completely severed. The faculty of complete knowledge is not possessed by ordinary beings and those abiding in the state of fruition. The faculty of knowledge is not possessed by ordinary beings and those in the state of the path of seeing and the path of no more learning. The faculty of possessing complete knowledge is not possessed by ordinary beings and those in the state of learning. 'Whoever possesses the body faculty also possesses four' refers to those born in the desire and form realms possessing the body faculty. They do not necessarily possess other (all faculties), because the eye, etc., and those in the desire realm who have not obtained (these faculties) and those in a state of decline do not possess (these faculties). The male and female faculties are not possessed in that state and in the form realm. Suffering is also not possessed at that time. Happiness and ordinary beings

Not associated with those born in the fourth dhyana. Joyful feeling and ordinary beings born in the third and fourth dhyanas are not associated. Not associated with unpleasant feelings and other things like faith should be stated as before. Those with eyes etc. have five. This is a different name for those who have eyes, ears, nose, and tongue. That and that means that if there are eyes, the body faculty must be there. Ears etc. are not, because it is possible to not obtain and lose in the desire realm. The confusion of male and female faculties etc. should be stated as before. It should also be understood that those who have the faculties of ear, nose, and tongue are the same as those who have the faculty of ear, then they must have equanimity, life, mind, and body faculties, and they have five faculties. How is it that it is also associated with joyful feeling?

English

Not being eaten by ghosts, possessing the faculties of the body. The four faculties of feeling refer to those other than unpleasantness. Because there are also the faculties of mind and life, one is not eaten by ghosts and possesses seven faculties. The remaining faculties being confused should be stated as before. Possessing the female faculty and so on, eight in total, refers to possessing female, male, unpleasantness, faith, diligence, mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom, which is a summary term. The faculties of life, mind, pleasure, pain, pleasantness, and equanimity have already been discussed. The three faculties of possessing omniscience and so on will be explained later, so only these eight faculties are taken. If one possesses the female faculty, it means that one who possesses the female faculty is born in the desire realm, therefore, that one is not eaten by ghosts, possesses eight faculties, and only these are taken. If it is said that one possesses those seven, then it is stated that one possesses those seven and the female faculty. The body, life, mind, and the four faculties of feeling, i.e., seven, and the eighth is possessing the female faculty. The eyes and so on are uncertain because damage and so on may occur as stated before, because of those reasons. One who possesses the male faculty should also be described like one who possesses the female faculty. One who possesses unpleasantness is also born in the desire realm and is free from desire and attachment to the desire realm, therefore, similarly, those seven possess unpleasantness. One who possesses faith is also a sentient being of the three realms, and if there is no faith and so on, they will not arise, so one possesses those five, equanimity, life, and mind. The remaining ones are uncertain, as before. Just as with possessing faith, it is the same up to possessing wisdom. Because it dominates all knowledge, it is called the faculty of possessing all knowledge, which means that only that which dominates all knowledge is the faculty of possessing all knowledge, which is a summary term for the faculty of knowing without remainder. The faculty of all knowledge also dominates all knowledge, but it is not without remainder, because there are still remaining things to be abandoned. Or, from the aspect of words
