The basis of mind is ninefold: thinking "someone has harmed me, is harming me, will harm me" is the basis of three kinds of minds that cause harm; thinking "someone has harmed my friends, is harming my friends, will harm my friends" is another basis of three kinds of minds that cause harm; thinking "someone has benefited my enemies, is benefiting my enemies, will benefit my enemies" is another basis of three kinds of minds that cause harm. Because there are no these nine bases of minds that cause harm, the unpleasantness caused by objects does not exist either, but this does not mean that there is absolutely no unpleasantness caused by causes. The anger that exists in one's own continuum is caused by causes, and what is caused by the nine bases of minds that cause harm is caused by conditions. The word "also" in "form and pleasure also" is to connect what was said earlier, therefore, it should be connected to say "except for the roots of male and female and pleasure and the stainless." The colored roots refer to the eye root and so on. "Pleasure, etc." refers to the nature of pleasure, that is, the roots of pleasure and joy. The three feelings are pleasure, joy, and equanimity. Pleasure, belonging to the third dhyana ground, is what is abandoned by the path of seeing, corresponding to the subtle latent defilements that are abandoned by the path of seeing. In itself, other than it, the contaminated and the five aggregates of consciousness, the realm of desire and the three aggregates of consciousness, the ground of the first dhyana is what is abandoned by the path of meditation. The uncontaminated pleasure is not what is abandoned. Joy is also the same, what corresponds to what is abandoned by the path of seeing is what is abandoned by the path of seeing. Other than it, the contaminated is what is abandoned by the path of meditation. The uncontaminated is not what is abandoned. Equanimity is easy to understand because it exists everywhere. What is abandoned by the two is called unpleasantness, because it corresponds to non-joy, so it is non-joy. Its nature is non-joy itself, which is a synonym for unpleasantness. What corresponds to what is abandoned by the path of seeing is what is abandoned by the path of seeing.
