"Equanimity" means "intermediate," signifying that the root of equanimity is a neutral feeling. It is neither pleasant nor unpleasant, this is its definition. "Both" refers to the fact that this has two branches, body and mind, hence it is called "both," which is the definition of body and mind. "Because of non-discrimination" means because there is no discrimination of manifest activity, this is its definition. The mention of "mostly" is to completely abandon the joy and happiness arising from meditation and arising from maturation. "Not of the body" means that the happiness and suffering of the body do not arise from discrimination. Why? It is said, "Because of the object, even arhats arise," because solely due to the external object, even arhats who have abandoned the discrimination of the lovely and unlovely will generate bodily happiness and suffering. "Therefore, those, are different in their faculties." It means that the happiness and suffering of body and mind are different in their faculties, namely the faculty of pleasure, the faculty of joy, the faculty of pain, and the faculty of displeasure. As for equanimity, whether it is bodily, mental, arising from maturation, or arising from a cause in accordance, it is non-discriminating, only without manifest realization, arising naturally, without active creation, therefore, there is no difference in the faculties themselves, so the feeling of equanimity is called the faculty of equanimity, regarded as a single faculty. Ninth Chapter. The happiness of the body is also extensively explained elsewhere, that is, the happiness of the body is also sustained by the difference in the nature of experience, while the happiness of the mind is also sustained by others, the happiness of the body is dependent, while the happiness of the mind is non-dependent. Similarly, the suffering of the body is also sustained by the difference in the nature of experience, while the suffering of the mind is also sustained by others. "Equanimity has no difference," meaning there is no difference in the nature of self and characteristics. Therefore, for the sake of equanimity, that is, to become equanimity, because there is no difference, there is no difference in self and characteristics, so there is no difference.

Do. The path of seeing, meditation, and no-more-learning has nine. The so-called 'seeing' is seeing. The path of seeing, meditation, and no-more-learning is the path of seeing, meditation, and no-more-learning. These three paths themselves, as well as the nine things called mind, pleasure, joy, equanimity, faith, diligence, mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom, which of these are on the path of seeing? It is called the 'faculty of what is to be known.' What is the path of meditation? It is called the 'faculty of what is known.' And what is the path of no-more-learning? It is called the 'faculty of complete knowledge.' Thus, these things are established, and these things obtain these names in relation to each other. The word 'nine' is spoken in relation to other groups, but it is not that there are nine things in one group. Because among the faculties of pleasure, joy, and equanimity, only one of them exists. If that path is the path of no interval, special concentration, the fourth concentration, space, consciousness, or the birthplace of nothingness, then there is only the faculty of equanimity, and there are no faculties of pleasure and joy. If it is a stage of the first and second concentrations, then there is only the faculty of joy. If it is a stage of the third concentration, then there is only the faculty of pleasure, and there is no other. 'Entering into what is to be known' means entering into the unknown of the four truths to be known and fully realized, that is, thinking to fully understand. Its faculty is the faculty of what is to be known. The path of meditation does not have what was not previously seen to be known, because the subtle remnants have been abandoned. In order to abandon the afflictions to be abandoned by meditation, therefore, these four truths themselves are fully known. The person who knows everything is his faculty, or knowledge itself is the faculty, so it is the faculty of knowledge. On the path of no-more-learning, the realization that 'I know everything' is knowledge, which is only a statement of meaning, and the combination of words should be done in this way.
