Just as it is, the eyes and ears are also similar. Although it is a contact with the object, why is it that all contacts with eye medicine or probes are not seen? This is like saying that the object is very far away or has an interval, and the eyes and ears cannot perceive it, because it is undesirable, just like contact with eye medicine and probes. Or, the eyes and ears do not perceive all that they should perceive, because it is the nature of the senses, like the sense of hearing, etc. Although the nose and so on are in contact with the object, they do not perceive the odors that arise together, so not all, because the senses have such abilities, so the nose and so on do not perceive the odors, tastes, and tactile sensations that arise together. The mind is not a material object, which means that contact is only a distinction that can be established for embodied beings, but not for disembodied beings, so it is said that contact with the object should not be examined. The three are other, which means that the treatise is written in order to want to determine that the three are only in contact. If this is not the case, then it is also possible that it is both in contact with the object and not in contact with the object. Not inhaling cannot perceive, which means that when the nose inhales, the four subtle dusts that arise together arrive, and the nose can smell the odor. Others say that the odor arises from the wind. Mixing means becoming one object. If only by one aspect, then what does it mean? It should be connected with "if touched". Then how can sound manifest and be accomplished? This is because if it is not touched, it cannot be struck, and sound cannot manifest and be accomplished. Those who say "because of this" are the Kashmiris, who believe that if touched, hitting the hand with the hand will dent, just like hitting another brick with a brick. If you hit the accumulation, why won't it be destroyed? This is to say, if you hit a collection of dust that does not touch each other with your hands, etc., why won't it be destroyed? In the middle of these dusts, where there is no gap at all, that is the real adhesion.

That which is called, because there is no appearance etc. within, these are established as contact. Only that is meeting, not otherwise. Also, that which is called, is a synonym for "another". Because the assembled things have parts, they will touch, and if all themselves touch, then the substances will mix. If one part touches, then it will become having parts, so there is no fault in saying that. Because of the cause, what is called is saying, what kind of cause is the cause of touching or not touching. Sometimes, what is called is the vast appearance, having the cause of touching, because this has the cause of mutual touching, so having the cause of touching is not touching. When does it disintegrate, like a dry clod of earth turning into powder. When does it gather, like snow, which is first subtle and then becomes large. When does it gather, gathering with strength, like two lumps of clay meeting. The later moment will exist, because it has contact after being born. The venerable one says, contact is not contact, it is just thinking that contact is touching the contact point, so one should follow the sect of the venerable one, why should one not follow the sect of the Vaibhashikas? The Vaibhashikas also say this, among them, whatever is not even a little, that is the contact point, isn't that what they say? Although it is said like that, that word has loopholes. The Vaibhashikas who say that there is not even a little in the middle do not think that there is appearance etc. in the middle, but they do not say that there is no opportunity for other atoms to enter. Otherwise, there are gaps between the atoms, how can one prevent them from walking in the gaps, saying that having walking is a superfluous word. There is also another fault, just as the Vaibhashikas think, the things gathered from the atoms are not other, so they themselves

It is to touch the broken part, such as the manifestable form, etc., which is only an aggregate, not a synonym for being alone. If it is said that the atom has different directional parts, this extensive statement is that the teacher wants to explain that the atom has not been fully established and is inferred. If it is thought that one atom has different directional parts such as the eastern part, then whether or not they touch each other, they will become divisible. If not, then what does "different directional parts" mean? It is connected to different directional parts. Even if touched, there will be no fault, what does this mean? It is divisible. What needs to be established here is that the atom is not indivisible, because it has different directional parts, like a pile of mung beans. The Vaibhashikas do not admit having different directional parts, they think that different directional parts are only for aggregated forms. They say, "If it is not a different place, it will not work, because things with obstruction, even if the places are different and there are intervals, but because they are closely connected, obstruction and hindrance are obstacles to the movement of things, this is a rule." They assert this. Like a fire wheel, etc., because of entering quickly, will it grasp mountains, etc.? This is to eliminate the doubt that if you want to grasp something the same size as yourself, how can you grasp a large mountain all at once, rather than gradually, so the reason for grasping is expressed by entering quickly, etc., for example, grasping a fire wheel, etc., although it is gradual, it appears to be grasped all at once. Similarly, grasping the sound of mountains and rivers, etc., is also entering quickly. Or, for equal and unequal things, for example, looking at grapes, etc., is equal, while looking at hair tips and mountains, etc., is unequal, this is how it is thought. Just opening the eyes is in a way that is not seen gradually. Similarly, the extensive statement of listening with the ears is that sometimes it is very small, for what?
