These are just that. Now, the combination of these words should be done like this: Because it exists together with what is relied upon, it is associated with what is relied upon, or because these things have similarities with what is relied upon, these things are the same as what is relied upon. If someone asks, 'What does it mean that 'because the fruit of contact is the same'?' The word 'the same as what is relied upon' should be combined according to the specific situation. Because it is something that needs to be relied upon, it is what is relied upon, and the way of combining words is the same as before. The fruits of these faculties, objects, and consciousnesses, namely the contact and mindfulness that arise from the mind. Relying on the eye and form, eye consciousness arises. Because contact and so on arise from the aggregation of the three. If we explain in detail 'which are not associated with what is relied upon,' then which of the eye and so on are not associated with what is relied upon, they are the same and similar to the characteristics described as being associated with what is relied upon, so they are the same as them, and here the word 'same' means similar. 'What is to be abandoned by seeing,' seeing refers to the initial realization of the truth, which is composed of fifteen moments of the uncontaminated mind. Cultivation is the repeated observation of the same truth. Alternatively, cultivation refers to the wisdom of worldly samadhi. Ten are to be abandoned by cultivation, and five are also, referring to the ten of the form realm and the five of their respective consciousness realms. If you ask, how do you know that only these are? Because the scriptures say 'the last three are three kinds,' so other than the last three, the other fifteen are to be abandoned by cultivation. Therefore, it must be determined that only these are to be abandoned by cultivation. 'Three kinds' refers to what is to be abandoned by seeing, what is to be abandoned by cultivation, and what is not to be abandoned. This is a summary definition, and only these are the three kinds. 'The eighty-eight subtle latent afflictions and what arise together with them,' subtle latent afflictions refer to the view of the aggregates and so on. What arises together with them refers to the mental factors that correspond to consciousness and feeling, and the characteristics of non-associated compositional factors and subsequent characteristics. After obtaining them,

Those called "those with followers, etc." The word "those" is combined with subtle details, etc., meaning those subtle details, etc., and the dharmas obtained by those arising simultaneously with that speech. Although the obtained dharmas arise simultaneously with subtle details, etc., not all of them do. Some obtained dharmas arise simultaneously with subtle details, etc., namely, those that arise simultaneously. Some are earlier or later because of those. Therefore, "obtained" is mentioned separately. By mentioning "those with followers, etc.," it encompasses the subsequently obtained dharmas and their characteristics. "The remaining contaminated ones are to be abandoned by cultivation" means that other than those to be abandoned by seeing in the latter three realms, the remaining contaminated ones are to be abandoned by cultivation. What are those? Namely, the ten subtle details and those arising simultaneously with them, and those obtained by them with followers, etc., namely, the contaminated virtuous dharmas, and the non-obscured and unspecified formations, and the contaminated non-revealing form with followers. "The uncontaminated ones are not to be abandoned" means that they are the nature of the truth of the path and the unconditioned. Are there no other things to be abandoned? The extensive explanation is that because the nature of ordinary beings is also the nature of non-obscured and unspecified formations, it belongs to what is to be abandoned by cultivation, and the actions of body and speech that lead to bad migrations are also the nature of form, so it is said that they are to be abandoned by cultivation. Therefore, the Sthavira Nikāya refutes, saying, "Because it contradicts the noble path." Because when the noble path arises, there is no ordinary being, and even if there is karma that is certain to lead to bad migrations, the noble path will not arise. When the noble path arises, the karma of bad migrations will not arise either. Therefore, both are to be abandoned by seeing, like the view of the perishable aggregate, etc. To refute them, these have already been said, but for easy understanding, a brief summary is made.
