Because it is 'Ba'. Why mention the body's senses, etc.? Like this, if it is going to be explained, then the severance of the body's senses will be completely revealed. Therefore, the senses such as the body's senses are mentioned. If the limbs are not completely severed, and the limbs sever the branches, then it is impossible for them to become two, because the body's senses, etc., cannot become two. How do you know that it is impossible for them to become two? Therefore, it is also said that the senses, etc., cannot become two, because the severed limb separated from the body has no senses. How do you know that the severed limb separated from the body has no senses? Like this, relying on them and touch, etc., the consciousness of the body, etc., does not arise. Then, if the tip of the nose is cut off and reattached, why does the consciousness of the body arise? Because it is connected to the root of the nose, the body's senses will arise again, so there is no fault. If there is no body sense for it, then why do earthworms, etc., whose tails have been cut off, move here? That is because of the change of the wind element, not the function of the body's senses, it should be understood. It is also not severance, because it is as clear as the light of a jewel. Just as the light of a jewel is clear and not severance, the senses, etc., are also the same. Similarly, it is combustible and measurable. Like this, the word 'similarly' is used to clearly show that the four external realms have the same meaning as this. The change of wood, etc., after being burned by fire is combustion, but this is not in the senses, etc., because it is as clear as the light of a jewel. They will not change like wood, etc., or skin, etc. Then what is it? The connection with it will be interrupted. The four realms that have become scales, etc., are measurable, but the senses, etc., are not, because they are equally clear. The realms that are not embodied do not have bodies, so severance, etc., are impossible, so do not consider their severance, etc.

English

What is meant by "not sound, because it is cessation"? It means cutting, being cut, burning, or measuring, because it is not constant. The statement "burning and measuring are not the same" means that the phrase "not sound, because it is cessation" should also be applied to what follows. Some think that the four elements themselves both burn and measure. Burning refers to fire and strong oils, etc., because the four elements in general are the cause of turning into ashes, etc. Measuring refers to salt, etc., because in general it is the cause of lowering the head of the scale. The statement "only the fire element burns, and only heavy things measure" means that the fire element is the one that mostly performs the action of burning, such as flames, etc. Although the earth element, etc., mostly perform their own actions, they are not seen as burning. It is only the heavy form that is the cause that mostly performs the action of measuring. Although light substances such as light, etc., and forms, etc., mostly perform their actions, they are not seen as measuring. The reason for mentioning "internal" in "internal five" is to exclude forms, etc. The reason for mentioning "five" is to exclude mind. It must be determined that the internal five are only born from maturation and arise from growth, and not born from similar causes. Why? Because there are no similar causes other than these. A similar cause is similar to the cause, so although those born from maturation and arising from growth are also born from similar causes, they are not considered to be born from similar causes because they are only included in those born from maturation and arising from growth. Therefore, those that are similar to their own cause but are not born from maturation and arising from growth are considered to be born from similar causes. Eyes, etc., are not like that. So what are they?

English

They are born from maturation and arise from growth. Therefore, it is said that there is no similar cause other than them. Furthermore, how is it known that they do not arise from similar causes? Because there is no following after death. The eye element, etc., like form, etc., do not follow after death. "Born from the cause of maturation" means that the cause of the fruit of maturation is the cause of maturation. Born from the cause of maturation means born from maturation, because the intermediate word is not manifest, like saying "ox cart." "Like saying ox cart" means that because the word 'cause' is not manifest, it is like saying ox cart, just as a cart with oxen is called an ox cart. Furthermore, "the karma that goes to the time of fruition" means that it is another name for abiding in the moment when the fruit of maturation arises at the end. Furthermore, "imputing the name of the fruit to the cause" means that which grows and expands, that is, the cause of the nature of karma, which is not the nature of maturation, is also called maturation, because it causes it to arise. For example, "imputing the name of the cause to the fruit" means that the six sense bases of contact, such as the eye, are the karma of the past, etc. Because it exists in the past life, it is the nature of the past, it is the karma of the past. Although those sense bases of contact are not the nature of the karma of the past, they are the karma of the past because they are born from it. Likewise, here too, it should be regarded as being imputed in reverse. "Those that are increased by food and good deeds, sleep, and the distinctions of samadhi are born from growth," the word 'distinction' should be applied to each one individually. Among them, food and sleep are commonly known in the world. Good deeds are the nature of anointing the body and administering medicinal oils, etc. Samadhi is the nature of one-pointedness of mind. Near accumulation is growth. That which has accumulation is growth.
