Because of being scattered, it is difficult to understand, and mostly it is involved later. How is it? It is said that some objects are in the present, and some objects are between the three times and non-time. By saying the word "between," some objects are in the past, and some objects are in the future. Some objects are in the three times, for example, saying that all dharmas are without self. Some objects are non-time, which means that the object is unconditioned dharma. In this way, mind is an uncertain object, and likewise, it is not easy to understand, so it is said later, even in the world, it seems that the easy to understand is said first. From the meaning of what is transformed from the arising elements, there are four. What is said is that the object of the four, such as the eye, is the form that is the cause, therefore it is said before the body. The object of the body is uncertain, sometimes it is the great elements, and sometimes it is what is transformed from the great elements, which is when one clings to it by distinguishing. Sometimes it is both, if one clings to it without distinguishing. The rest are said earlier by others because they enter extremely far and quickly as appropriate. The rest are the eyes and so on. What did others say earlier? The meaning of "extremely far and quick entry" is that by two, two, and one, one, and also by one, one enters far and enters extremely far and enters extremely quickly, so the meaning is to combine them separately. How is it? It is said that the eyes and ears are said earlier by the nose and tongue because the object is far. Among the two, the eyes and ears, the eyes enter extremely far, and can be seen from a distant river, but its sound cannot be heard, therefore it is said earlier, combining in this way, the eyes are said earlier than the ears. Among the two, the nose is said earlier than the tongue because it enters extremely quickly. How is it? It is said that the nose takes the smell of food without touching the tongue. Here it should be considered, if the nose and tongue cling to the object by touching it, then how can the nose take the food

If it is said that there is a smell, it is not because it perceives that the food has a smell, but because there is another smell in the air. Or, it takes in the smell that comes together with the minute parts of the food, because without inhaling, one cannot perceive the smell. Then, shouldn't it be said that one cannot smell the food without it touching the tongue? Because (we) think that the essence of the food bolus is that it does not touch the tongue, that is why it is said. There is no fault. In that case, the smell that comes together with the minute parts of the food, as mentioned earlier, is also perceived through the sense of smell, so it enters (the senses) more quickly. The tongue does not taste the flavor that comes together with the minute parts of the food, but only tastes the flavor that comes together with the food bolus, so it does not enter (the senses) as quickly, this should be understood. In order to explain the question of "what is the difference," the statement "in any case, it is the object and the object-possessor" is elaborated. In any case, by establishing the objects such as form and the five sense faculties such as the eye faculty as object-possessors, each of these ten (objects and object-possessors) is an āyatana, and it is not simply a "form āyatana," one should understand that an āyatana is not just one. If that were the case, there would be no mutual distinction. If, for the sake of distinction, the nine āyatanas from the eye āyatana to the body āyatana, and from the sound āyatana to the touch āyatana, have other names, why doesn't the form āyatana have another name? Therefore, (the text) says that because the things that are distinguished, such as the eye, are not named as the eye, etc., but (merely) as form, it will be understood as the form āyatana, so no other name is given to it. For example, among all (things) that have a cow pattern drawn on them, the one that does not have a cow pattern drawn on it is the obvious sign of having no pattern, it is similar to that. The reason for saying "because it is the main one" is that the form āyatana is the main cause of the three causes, because it is the form of a nature that can be harmed by the touch of hands, etc., gathered together, and this...
