Moreover, for those abiding in the fruition of the formless absorption and the fruition of the absorption without perception, when the karmic force of fruition is completely exhausted, and therefore the body begins to be completely destroyed by the harm of fire, there will inevitably be a mind with the nature of a seed, related to that body and serving as the basis of mind. When that manifests, later there will be death and transference. What will undergo death and transference? If it is governed by a person, then because the agent is different, it will not become the cause of "becoming." So, will the mind undergo death and transference? Or, it should be said that when the body is completely destroyed and begins to become something else, there will inevitably be the mind of that person, the mind related to that body and abiding in the nature of a seed, manifested and completely produced, and then begins to be completely destroyed. The person will later undergo death and transference, this should be connected in this way. For birth, it is also unreasonable to be without mind. Why? Because there is no reason to explain the mind. Because the mind that connects the continuum is inevitably afflicted, it is impossible to have cessation samadhi and so on. Because without afflictions there will be no birth. Because all the afflictions connect the continuum of birth, if there is no mind, afflictions will never arise, therefore without mind there is no birth. It is said that there are three states of death, how is it said? "The state of birth is afflicted, all of one's own afflictions." Because it must be determined that only the state of birth is afflicted, therefore the three states, namely death, previous existence, and intermediate existence, are explained as being of three types: virtuous, non-virtuous, and unspecified. Or, "In the formless realms, death is life, mind, and equanimity." From here, it is explained in detail up to "In all virtuous minds there are five." Therefore, there are three states of death, this should be understood in this way. An Arhat is "Nirvana and non-indication, the two," this is specifically pointed out. If the fruition in the desire realm is equanimity,

"If there is an intermediate state" refers to some tenets that say, like some say, "There is also an intermediate state below." "If it does not exist" refers to other tenets, like they say, "Above that, one will experience neither suffering nor happiness." "Only the practitioner" refers to those who abide in a state where they completely transcend suffering, similar to a practitioner, which is the unpredicted one. The statement "Ripening fruit, practitioner, crafts, and emanation, if desired, are the four unpredicted" does not wish to be limited to just these, as has already been said. "That is consistent with the cessation of mind" means that because of weakness, it is consistent with the cessation of mind not making a connection, because it is very unclear. This is the concluding word. For those with the cessation of mind making a connection, there may also be virtuous and non-virtuous minds. "Their consciousness is like numbers" means that the consciousness of those who go to the lower realms ceases at the feet, the consciousness of those who go to the human realm ceases at the navel, and the consciousness of those who go to the heavens ceases at the heart. If consciousness is not a form and does not abide in a place, how can it cease in those places? Therefore, it is said that it is because the physical faculties cease in those places. In the feet and so on, in the desire realm and the form realm, the entry of consciousness depends on the physical faculties. "Their consciousness also ceases in the heart" means that this meaning is understood only by indicating "like numbers." How is it understood? Heart and heart are the heart. Feet, navel, and heart, both are feet, navel, and heart, these are four meanings. Going below, going to the human realm, going to the heavens, and not being born, these are also these four meanings. Therefore, it is established like numbers. The reason for saying "mostly" is because the gods and so on die in happiness. They are not like cutting down a tree. What is it then? It is like being cut off by unbearable feelings. Also, because it is like being cut off, without wavering, it is called cut off, which refers to the limbs.
