The term "only granted" indicates that if it is shown that it does not arise solely from negation, then it demonstrates the essence of reason. Previously, the term "the arising of the fruit" meant that since destruction precedes arising, it is said, "This arose earlier, therefore this arises." The sutra states that due to the condition of birth, aging and death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, displeasure, and disturbance arise. These are all summarized as aging and death, and should be understood as not being other limbs. From that, these arise from all objects that are sentient and non-sentient, and from the entirety of the body. The thought that is similar to displeasure is sorrow. Speaking words incited by sorrow is lamentation, which is wailing and crying. Suffering and displeasure have already been explained. The exhaustion of the power of displeasure is disturbance. Others say that displeasure is the labor that precedes sorrow and lamentation. The term "child" when it appears extensively, refers to an ordinary being. In "merely an action," the mention of "merely" negates the meaning of self. The term "due to not knowing" indicates that it shows non-mingling with ignorance. Clinging to the view of self and the pride of thinking "I am" is abiding. Body and so on, that is, body, speech, and mind create three types of actions: merit, non-merit, and unwavering action. For the sake of happiness in the next life, the term merit refers to virtuous actions performed when desiring happiness in the future life. For the sake of happiness and neither happiness nor suffering, the term unwavering refers to virtuous actions performed in the realm of form for the sake of happiness up to the third dhyana. Beyond that, it is for the sake of neither happiness nor suffering. For the sake of happiness in this life, the term non-merit refers to actions done in reliance on happiness in this life, but not in reliance on happiness in the next life, which is a concluding statement. Due to the power of the pull of karma, that is, due to the power of the pull of karma as previously stated, like a burning fire going to hell.

Just as a flame placed on long grass travels, so too, the continuum of consciousness, being connected with the intermediate state, the continuum of the intermediate state also goes to that and that place far away. If it is said like that, if the continuum of consciousness conditioned by action is in the intermediate state, from the moment of conception until the moment of birth, all of this, if it is considered that all six aggregates of consciousness are consciousness conditioned by action, then the indication of the limb of consciousness is reasonable. Thirdly, in the indication of the limb of consciousness, what is consciousness? It is reasonable to say that it is the six aggregates of consciousness. If it is not like that, if the consciousness conditioned by action is not considered to be the continuum of the six aggregates of consciousness, but is considered to be only the mind of conception, then it cannot be said that this is the six aggregates of consciousness, but it should be said, what is consciousness? It is the consciousness of mind. Because in the moment of conception, the five consciousnesses do not arise. It is said in the sutra: severance and conception, separation from desire, decay, death and transference, and birth, etc., are all considered to be the consciousness of mind. Therefore, only the consciousness of mind can conceive. Because it is indicated in the differentiation, in the Sutra of Dependent Origination, it is said: differentiating from name and form, what is name? It is the four aggregates of non-form. What is form? Whatever is form, from the broad sense, what is form, what is name, these two are name and form. Because it is indicated in the sutra like that. Desire is the desire to act in desire. For happiness, it refers to the third dhyana. For neither happiness nor suffering, it refers to the fourth dhyana. For neither happiness nor suffering, it refers to the formless realm, which refers to acting in the formless realm. Approaching desire and so on

English

The term "grasping" refers to the clinging to desires, views, moral disciplines, ascetic practices, and self-assertions. The term "five desirable qualities" means that because they are desirable, they are "desires"; because they are habitual, they are "qualities"; desires themselves are qualities, so they are "desirable qualities." What are these? They are forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile objects. The term "sixty-two views, as described in the Brahma Net Sutra" means that these views should be understood by reading the Brahma Net Sutra. The word "etc." in "dog vows, cow vows, etc." includes deer vows, etc. The word "etc." in "naked ascetics, etc." includes white-robed ascetics, etc. The detailed descriptions such as "Brahmins" are: Brahmins are staffs and deerskins; herdsmen are hair knots and ashes; wanderers are three staffs and nakedness; the word "etc." includes skull-holders, etc., that is, people holding skulls, etc. Correctly grasping these is correctly grasping moral disciplines and ascetic practices. The term "because there is self-assertion, therefore it is a self-asserter" means that, as stated in the sutra, whichever bhikshu or brahmin correctly observes the thought of "I," then all those correct observations are only directed towards these five aggregates. Others say that self-assertion refers to the view of self and the conceit of "I am." Twenty-sixth chapter. Because of no-self, the word "assertion" in "grasping self-assertion" is to indicate the necessity of establishment. The term "child, ordinary being, unlearned" refers to those who do not have the wisdom that arises from previously habituated imprints and is obtained from birth, they are "children"; those who do not arise from realization, that is, do not arise from realizing the truth, they are "ordinary beings"; those who do not arise from teachings, they are "unlearned." The term "following after investigation" means following after in the same way as names and terms.
