If a general mental application arises from hearing or thinking, it will become manifest. If it relies on the second dhyana and so on, if it enters into certainty by relying on the second, third, and fourth dhyanas, how should that be understood? If one desires that a general mental application become manifest after the noble path, it is impossible to practice in the desire realm. Saying "to be manifested" is a redundant phrase. Why? Because the first dhyana alone is a great interval. If you say that only the levels of the second dhyana and so on will become manifest, then it is said that unless it is in accordance with the factors of ascertainment, those levels will not be attained. That is to say, unless it is in accordance with the factors of ascertainment, the uncontaminated states of the second dhyana and so on, or the states of non-perception and so on, have not been previously attained. Although worldly paths of various kinds have been previously attained, it is not accepted that they arise from the noble path. So, will a general mental application in accordance with the factors of ascertainment become manifest? Therefore, it is said extensively that the noble one is also in accordance with the factors of ascertainment. If you wonder why, it is said extensively that it is reasonable to manifest the application of what has already been attained, because the application is because the matter has been completed and is inferior. Those in accordance with the factors of ascertainment are also applications of the noble path. Therefore, "another general mental application similar to that" means that because it focuses on the truth, a general mental application similar to and in accordance with the factors of ascertainment will be attained, that is, it will be attained at the time of the arising of the uncontaminated path, which is the concluding statement. How so? The thought that "Nirvana is peace" is a general mental application because Nirvana focuses on everything. "It will become manifest" means that after the noble path, the thought that "all conditioned things are impermanent," or the thought that "all phenomena are without self," or Nirvana...

The manifestation of thinking of peace will occur. Don't say that. Why? Because these general mental activities similar to this depend on being in accordance with the part of discernment to be obtained. It is said that these are not obtained by relying on the path of no outflow. Relying on the absence of invincibility, the "ground" is said to be the ground of absence of invincibility. The so-called "its ground" or "peak of existence" refers to the ground of the sphere of nothingness or the peak of existence. If it is a being born in the peak of existence. In the remaining grounds, the rising mind is only its own ground, not another's. Because other grounds need to be accomplished through effort, while one's own ground arises without special effort. What is meant by "relying on effort"? It refers to the noble path. At the end of the path, what is obtained from birth in the desire realm will also manifest, which should be understood in context. "Afflicted in the three realms," the detailed explanation shows this according to the number. For the afflicted in the desire realm, six minds are obtained, that is, obtained separately. This is a summary statement. In the form realm, there are also six. In the formless realm, there are two. Therefore, the "afflicted in the desire realm" is mentioned in detail. The so-called "not possessing these six minds" refers to a person who does not possess these six minds. How is this so? Here, the connection of the root of virtue is through right view or doubt. If he connects through doubt, then the afflicted mind corresponding to doubt will manifest. When he returns from the form realm and the formless realm to the desire realm, at that time, this intermediate existence will undoubtedly obtain the connecting afflicted mind, thereby obtaining the root of virtue. The detailed explanation of "unwholesome and obscured and unspecified" is according to the situation. The obscured and unspecified in the form realm is also the same.
