Etc., is the time of rebirth. Except for those with afflictions who act in the desire and form realms, as well as learners and non-learners, this is because they have not been liberated from desire from the lower realms, and there is no rebirth, and it is impossible for learners and non-learners to arise, so it will not arise from them. These four are self and non-learner, which means that when arising, it is the goodness of the three realms, and when continuing, it is the learner, and after the Vajra-like Samadhi, it is the knowledge of exhaustion, so it is the non-learner, a total of five kinds. The five kinds just mentioned are the goodness of the three realms when entering Samadhi, and when arising and continuing after the Vajra-like Samadhi. From that, the mind is four kinds, except for the learner, because a learner will not arise from a non-learner. Why does it not arise when completely degenerated? Because it is interrupted by the arising of afflictions. Innate and practice-born, innate refers to the first birth obtained when the intermediate being is reborn in the desire and form realms. In the formless realm, it is the birth obtained at the time of birth. Practice-born refers to what is obtained through practice, arising from hearing, thinking, and meditating in the three realms, each corresponding accordingly. Resultant-born, behavioral path, skillful means, and transformation mind, these are different due to the differences in cause and karma, and what is born from the resultant cause is the resultant-born. Behavioral path, arising from sleeping, sitting, standing, walking, etc., is the behavioral path. What arises in skillful means is skillful means. The mind that thinks for the sake of transformation is the transformation mind. Or, what arises from transformation or what is about to be transformed is called the transformer. It becomes twenty kinds, how does it become twenty kinds? It is said that it is divided into six good and seven kinds of unobscured and unspecified, and the nature of what is practice-born and innate in the three realms is the kind of good.

Divided into six types, as well as those born from maturation in the desire realm, travelers, artisans, the distinctions of transformation, as well as those born from maturation in the form realm, the objects of the traveler and the distinctions of transformation, those not obscured and not specified by both the desire and form realms, divided into seven types. These thirteen and the remaining seven that are not divided, namely: thus, the non-virtue of conduct in the desire realm, as well as those obscured and unspecified, those obscured and unspecified of conduct in the form realm, those obscured and unspecified of conduct in the formless realm, those not obscured and unspecified, learners and non-learners, thus consciousness becomes twenty types. Because there are no travelers, etc., it refers to the fact that there are no travelers in the formless realm, because there are no crafts and transformations, so there are not these three, because the object is formless. The objects of those are form, smell, taste, touch, etc., among which the object of the traveler is the form of bedding and cushions, etc., and the form of one's own body parts, etc. The artisan is the form of crafts, etc. The transformer is the form of transformation, etc. The artisan is also sound, in which the sound of the word "ni" is used for distinction. The sound of the word "yang" summarizes form, etc. The object here is also sound, because consciousness learns crafts by taking the sound of the language of crafts as its object. The object of maturation is not mentioned, so it should be understood as all forms, etc. Consciousness is the only one, which means that the three, such as travelers, are consciousness, because they arise from the manifestation of discrimination. Those born from maturation are not mentioned, so it will be shown to be the nature of the six consciousnesses. The combiners of travelers and artisans are the five aggregates of consciousness, which refers to those existing in the state of combination.

Therefore, they are the creators. Just like that, they arise from the interval between seeing and touching. There is no creation for those born from Vipāka, because they arise naturally by the power of karma. The extensive explanation called "Accomplished by skillful means" is that some say that the mind consciousness accomplished and generated by the skillful means is focused on the twelve sources, that is, from focusing on the eye source to focusing on the dharma source, and there are also those that are not recorded. If so, then apart from the wayfarer and others, there are others that are not obscured and not recorded, and it should be shown as much as possible, and it should be understood as such. If not, then in the second chapter, etc., "The consciousness of body, eye, and ear, arises various cognitions, which is the first cognition, it is neither recorded nor afflicted." And "It transforms by its own ground, the lower one causes speech." etc. Which of these four kinds of consciousness that will be explained will be covered? For the time being, it is not born from Vipāka, because the nature of the Vipāka of those born earlier is not the lower ground. It is also not the wayfarer and others, because there are no wayfarers and others. It cannot be put into the mind with the habit of ignorance and so on. This is also what the venerable Infinite Armor said from the explanation of the distinction: "Apart from these four, there are other consciousnesses that have not been recorded." It should be understood that this explanation is with remainder. Called "Except for the fruit of supernatural powers", that is, the mind that acts in the desire realm only arises after the practice of acting in the form realm, but not after the practice of acting in the desire realm. Arising from the practice of acting in the form realm, as well as the learners and non-learners, refers to the time of entering into samadhi. Called "One's own virtuous and afflicted ones", that is, one's own virtuous and afflicted ones, because there are no afflicted ones at the time of practice.
