Then, is there any other function for (dharma)? If it is neither past, nor future, nor present, but if it exists, then it must be unconditioned, therefore it will be permanent. Therefore, when dharma functions, it cannot be said that it is present. If (dharma) has other (qualities) different from function, then such a fault will arise, but it is not different. Therefore, such a fault will not arise, if you say so. Even so, that is not reasonable in time. If dharma itself is the function, why is it that dharma exists in its own nature, sometimes called past, sometimes called future, so that the distinction of the three times cannot be established? The dharma that has not arisen is the future. The dharma that has arisen and is disappearing is the present. The dharma that has disappeared is the past. If you say that this cannot be established, then here also it should be said that if the past and the future also exist substantially as the present, then that is the case. Similarly, if it appears, what is it that has not arisen? If dharma exists in its own nature, then how can it be established that it has not arisen or disappeared? If nothing has arisen before this, because there is nothing, it is called the future; if there is nothing after this, because there is nothing, it is called disappeared. Therefore, if one does not wish that there is no arising, and that there is no disappearing after arising, then in any case the three times cannot be established. The Vaibhashikas say that the past and the future do exist. For what cannot be said, one should establish it with one's own intention, saying: These dharmas are profound, and cannot be proven by uncertain thinking. The (argument) that came from the side is finished. Now, it should be examined whether abandoning something means being separated from that thing; and whether being separated from something means abandoning that thing. For the time being, being separated from something does not necessarily mean abandoning that thing, and there are also cases where one has abandoned but not separated, for example: Having abandoned the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing the truth of suffering, but still possessing the remaining pervasive (afflictions). Having abandoned the initial form, but still possessing the remaining defilements of its object. The wisdom of the truth of suffering has arisen, but the wisdom of the truth of origin

When (afflictions) have not yet arisen, the category that should be abandoned by seeing the truth of suffering has already been abandoned. Even if it is abandoned, the afflictions that should be abandoned by seeing the truth of origin, which are aimed at it, and the corresponding (afflictions) still exist. Among the categories to be abandoned by cultivation, the first aspect of the nine aspects, after abandoning that (affliction), it is also necessary to recognize the remaining afflictions that are aimed at it and the corresponding (afflictions). "From which thing, how many subtle increases will increase?" If this question is explained word by word, it will become very cumbersome, so it is best to minimize the effort. This is a large collection of questions about the Dharma. In order to be able to understand the Dharma, it should be summarized and explained in detail. In short, the Dharma can be summarized into these sixteen: the five aspects in the desire realm, the form realm, and the formless realm, and the unpolluted Dharma. The mind is also sixteen, namely those mentioned above. Therefore, after understanding which Dharma is the object of which mind, one should think, "In this case, how many subtle increases will increase?" First: Through the habit of seeing the truth of suffering and seeing the truth of origin, the Dharma born from the desire realm that should be abandoned is one of the three of oneself (desire realm) and belonging to the form realm, and the object of the undefiled (unleaked) consciousness. That is one's own, so it is one's own three. That is both one and belongs to the form realm, so it is one belonging to the form realm. That is how the words are combined. First, in the desire realm, the five dharmas that should be abandoned by seeing the truth of suffering and seeing the truth of origin, and that should be abandoned by cultivation, are not the objects of the previous mind, but the three of oneself, that is, themselves; one in the form realm, that is, that which should be abandoned by cultivation; and one of the unpolluted Dharma. The defilements arising from the form realm are oneself and the lower three realms, and one of the upper realm. The three dharmas in the form realm are the objects of the eight minds, namely the three of one's own realm, that is, themselves; the three of the lower three realms are also themselves; and one of the upper realm, that is, that which should be abandoned by cultivation; and one of the unpolluted Dharma. The dharmas included in the three realms arising from the formless realm are the objects of the three and the unpolluted. The Dharma in the formless realm
