It causes decline. The three kinds of virtue have been explained by the differences in the basis of performing meritorious deeds. Furthermore, meritorious deeds, nirvana, and the three virtues that are in accordance with the decisive factor. That which is in accordance with the aspect of merit is the ripening of desirable results. That which is in accordance with the aspect of liberation is that which, when born, will lead to nirvana. For those who, upon hearing the faults of samsara and the praises of the qualities of nirvana, have their hair stand on end and shed tears, it should be known that they have the root of virtue in accordance with the aspect of liberation, just as one knows that there is a seed from the sprouts growing in the summer fields. That which is in accordance with the decisive factor is the four, such as becoming warm, which will be explained below. In this world, what is the nature of letters, hundreds, counting, poetry, and numbers? By means of diligently applied action, and, together with all arising, three aspects. Letters, hundreds, and numbers together, poetry and numbers in order. What is meant by diligently applied action is that it is excellent by means of the differences in method. What is meant by the three kinds of action are the actions of body, speech, and mind. Among these, letters and hundreds are the actions of the body, diligently applied and accompanied by all arising. Counting and poetry are the actions of speech, and these are the nature of the five aggregates. Numbers are the actions of the mind, that is, reckoning in the mind. Now, some categories of dharmas will be mentioned: Obscured, bad, together with arrogance. Afflicted dharmas together with faults, and obscured, bad, these are the categories of afflicted dharmas. Immaculate, virtuous, excellent. Excellent refers to the categories of virtuous and uncontaminated dharmas. Other than the two, bad and excellent, it is established as intermediate. Conditioned, virtuous, to be relied upon. To be relied upon refers to the categories of conditioned dharmas that are virtuous. The remainder are established as not to be relied upon. Why are unconditioned dharmas not to be relied upon? Because they cannot be cultivated, and if one relies on them for the sake of the result, there is no result.

Therefore. All other dharmas are related to the Lama. Liberation is unsurpassed. There is nothing more special than Nirvana, because it is virtuous and eternal, therefore it is special by all. In the commentary on the Abhidharma Kosha, which is in accordance with the Sutra, the fourth chapter of the Kosha is called "Teaching of Karma." As it is said, "Karma gives rise to various worlds." As it is said, they are also accumulated by the power of subtle attachments, but without subtle attachments, existence cannot be manifested. It should be understood that the root of existence is subtle attachments. These can be summarized as six. What are the six? Desire, anger, pride, ignorance, view, and doubt. These six are also explained as seven by distinguishing desire. In the Sutra, desire is divided, and from those six subtle attachments, it is explained as seven. They are the subtle attachment of desire, the subtle attachment of anger, the subtle attachment of existence, the subtle attachment of pride, the subtle attachment of ignorance, the subtle attachment of view, and the subtle attachment of doubt. What is meant by the subtle attachment of existence? The desire for existence arises from the two realms. What arises from the form and formless realms is said to be the subtle attachment of existence. Why is it said that way? It is said because it looks inward and there, to reverse the idea of liberation. These are mostly those who desire from absorption, and that is because they look inward. Also, it is said to reverse the idea of liberation that some people have in that realm, so it is said to be the subtle attachment of existence. How is it that in the Abhidharma, those six subtle attachments are divided and also explained as ten actions? How is it done? Five views, namely, the view of the perishable collection, the wrong view, the view of holding to extremes, the view, and the holding of discipline and asceticism as supreme, and ten. From the six subtle attachments, if the view is divided into five types, it becomes ten. The five natures of view are: the view of the perishable collection, the view of holding to extremes, the wrong view, the holding of view as supreme, and the holding of discipline and asceticism as supreme. The five natures that are not views are: desire and anger, pride, ignorance, and doubt.
