Killing the father, killing an Arhat, causing dissension in the Sangha, and causing the Tathagata to bleed with malicious intent. Intense afflictions are the obscurations of afflictions. Afflictions are of two types: intense afflictions and sharp afflictions. Intense afflictions are those that occur frequently. Sharp afflictions are those that are strong. Among these, the intense ones are the obscurations, such as those related to food and so on. Although the force of afflictions may be strong, they can sometimes be overcome, but those that occur frequently, even if their force is weak, cannot be overcome. Because afflictions that occur frequently must be overcome, there is no opportunity to strive. It relies on the small to give rise to the medium, and relies on the medium to give rise to the large, therefore it itself is an obscuration. The three lower realms and one higher realm, as well as Uttarakuru and the unconscious beings, are the obscurations of fruition. To whom do these obscurations belong? They belong to the noble path and the roots of virtue arising from engagement in noble actions. What is the meaning of "uninterrupted"? Because it cannot interrupt the maturation of the karmic results of other lifetimes, it is called "uninterrupted," which is to say, it cannot be suppressed. Furthermore, in which realm should it be understood that these obscurations exist? For the time being, in one place. In the three continents, there are uninterrupted karmas. If they do not exist in Uttarakuru and other beings, then what need is there to mention other realms? In those places, it is only for men and women, and not for food and so on. Why? Because benefit and shame are small. Parents and they in turn, because they will become the owners of incomplete bodies, and because loving-kindness is small, it is said that parents have little benefit for them. They also have little sense of shame and embarrassment towards their parents, because without these, one will touch the fault of uninterrupted karma, therefore ghosts are also not included. Monks say that it happens to intelligent people, like an intelligent horse. People

Even if one cleanses non-human parents, it will not become an uninterrupted offense. The obscuration of karma has been explained. Among the remaining five types of beings, what remains? It is the obscuration of afflictions and the obscuration of maturation. Among humans, the obscuration of maturation refers to those with unpleasant voices. Among gods, it refers to the unconscious beings. What is the nature of the uninterrupted offenses? Four are actions of the body, one is an action of speech. Three are killing, one is lying, and one is instigating killing, because the Tathāgatas possess the nature of not deceiving. Because the cause is designated as the result, or because it is distinguished by this, therefore, division of the Saṃgha is said to be an uninterrupted offense. Division of the Saṃgha is discordant, possessing a non-self-nature dharma, not afflicted, and not indeterminate. If division of the Saṃgha is said to be discordant, not possessing mind, not unobscured and indeterminate, then how can it become an uninterrupted offense? It is not in accordance with the divider either. If so, then it is truly in accordance with the Saṃgha. Whoever divides, is in accordance with the division, but not in accordance with the divider. Then, with what is it in accordance with the divider? It has a false transgression. It is in accordance with the divider. The divider possesses the transgression of the division of the Saṃgha, which is false. It is also in accordance with the division of the Saṃgha, the divider is one who is born. The expression of speech and non-expression, the divider is in accordance with that transgression. It ripens in uninterrupted eons, it ripens in intermediate uninterrupted eons. Others are not necessarily ripened in the uninterrupted. Furthermore, if someone has committed many uninterrupted offenses, and those uninterrupted offenses ripen without interruption, then what will happen to him? Suffering will become more intense. Because of many uninterrupted offenses, he will obtain a huge body in the uninterrupted hell, as well as a very young body, and the suffering will also be very great, becoming unbearable, and he will experience feelings that turn into two, three, four, or five. Who would divide the Saṃgha in that way? A bhikṣu's view and conduct
