There is a lake with a circumference of fifty yojanas. Beyond that snow mountain, from a lake called Matrosa (མ་དྲོས་པ་), four great rivers flow: the Ganges, the Indus, the Bokshu, and the Sita. That lake is fifty yojanas wide and fifty yojanas deep, and it is difficult for those without supernatural powers to pass through. In which direction are the hells? The Avici Hell is in that direction. From here, that is, Jambudvipa, twenty thousand yojanas down, is the Avici Hell where sentient beings reside. The height of the sky and the width of the water, as well as the foundation below, are all twenty thousand yojanas. Counting from here, it becomes forty thousand yojanas. Because suffering is uninterrupted, it is called Avici Hell. The other hells have interruptions in their suffering. For example, in the Reviving Hell, after being cut and pierced, when the cold wind rises, those beings are revived, so it is called Reviving. Above that are seven hells. Above the Avici Hell are seven hells: the Extremely Hot Hell, the Hot Hell, the Great Crying Hell, the Crying Hell, the Crushing Hell, the Black Rope Hell, and the Reviving Hell, arranged from bottom to top. Each of the eight great hells also has sixteen neighboring hells. The Bhagavan also said that the eight great hells are difficult to surpass. Wherever the six karmas are, each hell has sixteen neighboring hells. So, what are the sixteen neighboring hells? They are on the four sides of each hell. Pits of fire, corpses and excrement mud, rivers of razor paths, etc. On the four sides of each hell, at each gate, there are four neighboring hells: fire pits knee-deep, corpses and excrement mud, forests full of razor-sharp leaves, forests with leaves like swords, and forests of iron thorn mountains. Razor paths and the like, weapons appear and fall, these three can be generally counted as one. The four neighboring hells are rivers without water, filled with ashes. They also surround the great hells in the same way. These four neighboring hells are called sixteen according to the different directions. Because it is a place that increases suffering, it is called the neighboring hell. Or, after suffering in hell, they suffer here again, or after the death of the hell warden, they sink into these places again, so it is called the neighboring hell.

O! For the moment, those are the great hot hells. There are also eight cold hells such as the Blister Hell. In addition, there are eight cold sentient being hells, namely: the Blister Hell, the Bursting Blister Hell, the Sornam Sornam Hell, the Achu Hell, the Jihu Hell, the Hell that Splits Like an Utpala (Sanskrit Devanagari: उत्पल, Sanskrit Romanization: utpala, Chinese literal meaning: blue lotus), and the Great Hell that Splits Like a Lotus. These sentient beings are threatened by unbearable cold, and their bodies and voices change accordingly, hence the names. These hells are also located below Jambudvipa, directly opposite the great sentient being hells. All sixteen of these sentient being hells arise from the power of the karma of all sentient beings. The realm of animals is land, water, and sky. Pretas are the corpses of animals, humans, and gods, and are divided into three types: those without enjoyment, those with little enjoyment, and those with much enjoyment. If you ask where the sun and moon are located? They are in the wind, and the four wind circles, which arise from the karma of all sentient beings, revolve around Mount Meru, propelling the sun, moon, and stars. If you ask how far the sun and moon are from here? The sun and moon are located halfway up Mount Meru, running from the top of the Yoke-Holder Mountain. If you ask what the size is? Fifty-one yojanas. The size of the moon mandala is fifty yojanas. The size of the sun mandala is fifty-one, meaning fifty-one. If you ask whether the sun shines on all four continents at the same time? The answer is: no. Thus, in those places, midnight is when the sun sets, and the sun rises when it is halfway up. When it is midnight in Uttarakuru, the sun sets in Purvavideha in the east. When it is halfway up in Jambudvipa, the sun rises in Godaniya. Similarly, apply this to other places as well. Day and night become longer and shorter according to the movement of the sun. Among them, at the end of the second month of summer, the nights become longer from the ninth day of the waxing moon. The second month of summer, that is, the ninth day of the waxing moon of the last month of summer, the nights become longer. In the fourth month of winter, it becomes shorter from the ninth day. That is, it becomes shorter from the ninth day of the waning moon of the fourth month of winter.
