The twelve are the objects of focus, because those two are not there. The upper three are connected to "field of activity." There are three in the formless realm, because there is no form, etc., there, so the object of focus is the near-abiding of Dharma. It has been explained that it is associated with the desire realm. It should be said that it is associated with form. Among them, let's say, the second dhyana, twelve. Except for the near-abiding of unpleasantness. Those twelve are also. Those who go to desire, because they go to desire, are called those who go to desire, which means they focus on the desire realm. How to understand it? It can also be seen that the act of applying going to the meaning of holding on to the realms, so it should be understood in this way. Eight that focus on themselves. In the form realm itself, there are eight mental near-abidings, their objects of focus are themselves, except for the four near-abidings of smell and taste. Two formless ones. The object of focus is the near-abiding of Dharma. Six in the second dhyana. In the third and fourth dhyanas, there are only six near-abidings of equanimity, not others. Their objects of focus are also. Six of desire. All six of the desire realm are also objects of focus. Four of oneself. There are four in the form realm, because there is no smell and taste there. The upper object of focus is one. In the formless realm, the only object of focus is the near-abiding of Dharma. It has been explained that it is associated with form. Now it should be said that it is associated with formlessness, the formless near-gathering has four. Here, because the sphere of infinite space is the near-gathering, it is the near-gathering, where there are four near-abidings of form, sound, touch, and Dharma. They are also. Form-goers. Their object of focus is the fourth dhyana. One who goes above. If focusing on the formless realm, there is only the near-abiding of Dharma there. One in the main body. In the main body of the formless realm, there is only the near-abiding of Dharma, there is no other. That is also focusing on its own formless realm. The main body of the formless realm does not focus on the lower realm, which will be explained below. These mental near-abidings are also, fifteen.

All aggregates are with defilements. There is none without defilements. Thus, the limb called "feeling" should be understood in many ways. The remaining limbs are not mentioned again. Why is that? Because there are others to be told and explained. Some of the limbs here have already been told, and some will be told later. Among them, for the time being, consciousness, that is, "separately knowing each consciousness, it is also the source of mind," has been told. The six sense bases are also like this, "eye and so on combined with form, that is the basis of consciousness," has been told. Formation and existence will be told from the place of the storehouse of karma. Craving and attachment will be told from the place of the storehouse of the expansion of afflictions. These dependent originations, in short, as previously shown, are afflictions, karma, and basis. Here, afflictions are like desire, like seeds, like dragons, like roots, like trees, like husks. How are seeds and so on in accordance with the Dharma? For example, from seeds sprout shoots, stems, leaves, and so on, similarly, from afflictions also arise afflictions, karma, and basis. For example, just as a lake where water dragons live does not dry up, it is the same when the dragon of afflictions lives. For example, just as trees in a forest, if not uprooted, will grow again even if repeatedly cut down, so too are beings who have not eradicated afflictions from their roots. For example, just as trees bloom and bear fruit from time to time, similarly, afflictions are not just once, but become the cause of afflictions, karma, and basis. For example, just as a rich fruit with husks is able to grow, but not solely, similarly, karma associated with the attainment of afflictions can also produce the next life, but not solely. Thus, afflictions should be understood as like seeds and so on. Karma is like fruit with husks, like medicine, like flowers. Because this has husks, it is with husks. Afflictions like husks have already been told. Now, karma like fruit with husks will be told. For example, just as the fruits of barley and medicine eventually ripen, karma has also ripened.
