Likewise, others besides those that are concordant. Apart from the single cause that is concordant, other phenomena such as those with afflictions arise just as the mind and mental factors do. Among these, those born from afflictions and maturation are from four. The remaining ones are from three. The first of the uncontaminated is from two, as there are no phenomena arising from a single cause. This concludes the consideration of causes. What are the conditions? Conditions are said to be four. From where is the cause spoken of? In the sutra, conditions are only four: the causal condition, the immediately preceding condition, the objective condition, and the dominant condition. Because it is similar to a condition, it is called a condition. Among these, what is called a cause is the five causes. The five causes, excluding the agent cause, are the causal condition. Minds and mental factors, except for the last, are the immediately preceding condition. The object is all phenomena. In order, the visual consciousness together with its concomitants is form. For auditory consciousness, it is sound. For olfactory consciousness, it is smell. For gustatory consciousness, it is taste. For tactile consciousness, it is tangible objects. For mental consciousness, it is all phenomena, as there is nothing other than the objects of mind and mental factors. The objective condition has been explained. The agent is explained as dominant. Whatever is the agent cause is the dominant condition. This is the remaining condition, so it is the dominant condition. Although it is thought that the objective condition is also all phenomena, phenomena that arise simultaneously never become objects, but they do become dominant conditions, so it is the remainder, or it is the remaining condition. Everything except one's own nature is of all conditioned phenomena. Furthermore, when do these conditions act upon what kind of phenomena? First, from the five kinds of causal conditions that have been explained, what acts at the time of cessation is by two causes. The time of cessation is so-called because it is manifestly directed towards cessation, so it is now. There, simultaneous arising and similarity
