The two. Although there is absence of delusion, it is the nature of wisdom, and since it is a multiple ground of wisdom, it should not be called a multiple ground of virtue. Non-harming is extreme inappropriateness. Diligence is the mind's manifest joy. The multiple grounds of virtue have been explained. Ignorance and carelessness, laziness, disbelief, and lethargy and agitation, are always afflictive. These dharmas always arise from an afflictive mind, therefore they are called the multiple grounds of affliction. Among them, ignorance is unknowing, not knowing, and not clear. Carelessness is not cultivating virtuous dharmas, it is the opposite of cultivation. Laziness is the mind not being manifestly joyful, it is the opposite of diligence. Disbelief is the mind not believing, it is the opposite of faith. Lethargy is of two kinds, bodily and mental, because there is talk of bodily lethargy and mental lethargy. If asked, how can a mind-born dharma be called a bodily dharma? Like feeling. Agitation is the mind's non-pacification. These are the dharmas of the multiple grounds of affliction. Forgetfulness, distraction, non-awareness, improper attention, and wrong belief, because they are multiple grounds, are not necessarily held to be the nature of affliction, just as absence of delusion is not necessarily held to be a multiple ground of virtue. The multiple grounds of affliction have been explained. Shamelessness and lack of shame, in non-virtue. Shamelessness and lack of shame always arise in a non-virtuous mind, therefore these two dharmas are called the multiple grounds of non-virtue, the nature of these two will be explained below. Anger, resentment, concealment, jealousy, stinginess, deceit, pride, and harm, are the grounds of minor afflictions. These are the grounds of minor afflictions, because they are only ignorance, and are abandoned by cultivation, and are mental grounds, and are concordant. These will be explained in the near afflictions. The five kinds of mind-born dharmas have been explained.

Finished. Furthermore, there are uncertain mental factors such as investigation, analysis, regret, and sleep. Therefore, it should be explained which mind and how many mental factors necessarily arise together. Briefly, the mind that operates in the desire realm has two types: virtuous and non-virtuous, namely, unmixed and associated with other afflictions, and two types of indeterminate, namely, obscured indeterminate and unobscured indeterminate, making a total of five types. Among these, briefly, the mind that operates in the desire realm is necessarily accompanied by investigation and analysis. Therefore, it is said here: For the virtuous mind of the desire realm, because it is associated with investigation and analysis, there are necessarily ten universal mental factors, ten virtuous mental factors, and investigation and analysis, making a total of twenty-two mental factors that arise. In some cases, regret is added. For all virtuous minds, if there is no regret, but if it is counted in cases where there is regret, then twenty-three mental factors arise. What is meant by regret? It is having done something bad. The mind that focuses on this is called regret, which is mental remorse. If it is abandoned, it is like calling non-attachment that focuses on the impure as impurity. In the world, there are also statements like "all villages have gathered" and "all places have gathered," which show the establishment of a location. Is the place of mental remorse not regret? Or is this the establishment of the result as the cause, just as it is said, "These six sources of contact should be understood as past actions." Non-virtuous minds are divided into two types: unmixed and associated with views, both having twenty mental factors. The unmixed non-virtuous mind has ten universal mental factors, six root afflictions, two non-virtuous root mental factors, investigation, and analysis, making a total of twenty mental factors that arise. Unmixed means that the mind only has ignorance and no other afflictions such as desire. If the non-virtuous mind is associated with views, it also has twenty mental factors, the same as in the unmixed case. Because view is the nature of wisdom, it is not indicated there by view. Among them, the non-virtuous mind associated with views refers to having wrong
