Because there is no mundane path, and because it is not an antidote to one's own ground. Why is it not an antidote? Because the afflictions of that ground increase. Whichever affliction causes a thing to increase, that thing will not be abandoned by it. Whichever is the antidote, that affliction will not increase either. From others, there are two kinds. From grounds other than the peak of existence, one can also be free from desire through the mundane path, and one can also be free from desire through the supramundane path. Regarding this, there are also: "By the mundane, freedom from attachment, the noble ones' freedom has two attainments." When noble ones are freed from desire by the mundane path, beings obtain the attainment of freedom from desire, and two kinds of mundane and supramundane arise. Some say that it can also be done through the supramundane. Others say that it is the same through the supramundane path. Why? Because upon abandoning, one does not possess afflictions. If one obtains freedom from desire through the path of immediate result, and the attainment of mundane freedom from desire does not arise, then the noble path relies on meditation to be free from desire from the sphere of nothingness, and whatever transforms the faculties, all the previous paths are abandoned, and only the path of fruition is obtained. Therefore, one will not possess the freedom from the afflictions of the higher ground, and even that which is abandoned will still possess those afflictions. Liberation from half of the peak of existence, like being born in a higher realm, does not possess it. In this case, even if one does not obtain the attainment of mundane freedom from desire, one will not possess those afflictions. For example, in liberation from half of the peak of existence, although one does not obtain the attainment of mundane freedom from desire, through the transformation of faculties, even if one abandons the attainment of supramundane freedom from desire, one will not possess those afflictions again. For example, when an ordinary person is born in the first dhyana or higher, even if one abandons the attainment of freedom from desire from the afflictions of the desire realm, one will not possess that affliction again. Therefore, this is not a valid reason. Which ground is freed from desire through which ground? The unpolluted cannot overcome.

There is not. To be free from desire from everything, up to the peak of existence. Furthermore, if someone relies on the access concentration and obtains freedom from desire from a lower realm, then, just as with its uninterrupted path, do all paths of liberation also arise from the access concentration? The answer is no. Why is that? Is it meditation that comes from overcoming the three realms, or is it the final liberation that comes from the access concentration? There are nine realms of birth in all: the desire realm and the meditations, and the eight attainments. Among them, for those who overcome the three realms by being free from desire in between the second meditation, the final path of liberation can arise from both the access concentration and the actual meditation. The higher ones do not arise from the access concentration. Beyond overcoming the three realms, since it is the common function of equanimity, it arises only from the actual state, not from the access concentration. From the third meditation onwards, since the functions of the access concentration and the actual state are different, some people cannot enter the actual meditation, because it is difficult to transfer the function. Therefore, from overcoming desire from the three, the final path of liberation can also arise from the access concentration. Because of the unimpeded nature of the uncontaminated, it is said that one becomes free from desire from all realms. But others have not said that one becomes free from desire, therefore it is said: The noble ones, the eight, overcome their own higher realms. The uncontaminated meditation and the special meditation, and the formless ones, the eight, themselves become free from desire from their higher realms, but because they have already become free from desire, it is not from the lower realms. In this regard, since the uninterrupted path and the paths of liberation of the transcendent world are focused on the truth, it is established as entering the aspect of truth. The liberation of the worldly ones, and the uninterrupted path in sequence, the aspects of peace and roughness, etc. The paths of liberation are to view the aspects of peace, etc., while the uninterrupted paths are to view the aspects of roughness, etc., and these are also, in sequence, the objects of the higher and lower realms. The paths of liberation are the peace and excellence appropriate to the higher realms.
